Tierra Atacama is a boutique hotel on the edge of San Pedro de Atacama. It was created by the Purcell family, long time owners and operators of hotels, famous in Chile for the excellent food and warm hospitality. Tierra Atacama provides guest experiences that combine outdoor adventure and sports with indoor comforts, hospitality and excellent service. Tierra Atacama’s architecture, interior design and gardens were designed by some of Chile’s leading creative talent. Our objectives were to be as authentic as possible, using furniture and accessories handmade with local materials, while also creating a place that allows guests to relax, spoil themselves and enjoy the good-life in this magical part of the earth. Our ambiance is casual and friendly; we want our guests to be comfortable in our common areas just as if they were in their own homes. Enjoy one of the welcoming private corners of the hotel such as a seat by one of the terrace fire pits, lounge next to the pool or relax on one of the shady outdoor decks. When night falls, take in the brilliant stars, bask in the peace and wonder that is the Atacama Desert.

Perfect location, great level of hospitality! That was a dream on the Moon (maybe on Mars)... :) This is an expencive lodge, but the value for money is really good. I can onestly recomend Tierra Atacama Hotel!

Great activities & great staff .... rooms let us down
We stayed 3 nights at Tierra and enjoyed our stay in Atacama. The staff -- from check-in, to the restaurant, to the guides -- were fantastic. We also loved all the activities we participated in. The food was delicious and we got a surprise BBQ on our last night. The reason for the 4 stars vs. 5 is because the room really let us down. We were in the back row and had disrupted views, room was really dated, bathroom wasn't even big enough for one person and the outdoor shower was overlooked by all the neighbors -- not very private.

5 Star Attention
As one would expect with a Tierra hotel the attention to all aspects of our stay was superb. The check in and planning of trips was efficient. The room was nice with an outdoor shower and terrace. The food was good and a fair selection of wines and a premium bar list. We had WiFi in our room which was a bonus. All in all it is what we would have expected from a Tierra hotel. The staff are all excellent. The reason why we only gave 4 stars is that we compared this hotel to the Tierra Patagonia and felt the Tierra Patagonia was slightly better.

Incredible lodge
This spectacular all-inclusive llodge is ranked among the best in the world for a reason: it's incredible. Our room was beautiful, the food was excellent, the grounds were gorgeous and the staff was superb. The day tours out to various sites were outstanding. We especially loved the altiplano tour, which included magnificent views of the highlands.

Stunning hotel in stunning location
The welcome at the Tierra Atacama hotel was exceptional. On our pick up from the airport we were given a goodie bag of chocolate fruit and drink a lovely touch. In fact this hotel was all about nice touches perfect in every way from the staff exceptional wines and fine dining and personalised tours of the beautiful Atacama desert. The staff go through all the trips outlining times and opportunities for you to see everything daily. The staff go above and beyond in service. The bbq outside under the stars was exceptional roasted lamb beef fish and so many salads and puddings a groaning table. The room was exceptional so comfortable and an outside shower. The water bottles were a lovely touch as the chocolates on the bed at night as the staff turned down the bed and made ready for sleep. Luxury hotel in the desert highly recommended…

If we are booking the B&B rate, what is the typical cost of an excursion, both half day and full day? If we are doing four full days of excursions, is it more cost effective to book the all-inclusive rate even if we plan on eating dinners elsewhere? There is a delay in receiving a response via your reservations email.
Tierra Atacama was roughly $1500.00 per night but all excursions were included. The place wasn't cheap but the excursions were very good. As an example we had one half day event which was the guide, driver and my wife and I and that was it. It would certainly not have been cheap to do on its own.

Hi, on the B&B rate, can guests use the pool area at no extra cost?

We are staying at the hotel for 3 nights in mid December What weather and temperatures can we expect and what clothing do we need for our excursions? Do we our own backpacks or water bottles? What is the tipping policy? Thanks

Given the range of temperatures and landscapes here in the Atacama Desert, we recommend dressing in layers, with a warm jacket or fleece to hand for the cooler moments during the day. During the day, you may expect 32°C and at night, around 16°C Take a look at our suggested packing list to help you prepare for your trip: Walking/hiking shoes Swimsuit, warm weather clothing, sun cream, sun hat and sunglasses Warm jacket, trousers, sweater, fleece, windbreaker, gloves and hat Binoculars for wildlife-watching and camera equipment for capturing your surroundings Day-pack for excursions into the Atacama There isn’t a dress code at the hotel, though a smart/casual approach for dinner would not be out of place. **water bottles will be provided to you by the hotel. While gratuities are not obligatory, please note that it is customary in Chile to leave a tip when you receive a high quality service. We normally suggest between USD $50-$100 per person per night, but the amount is completely under the discretion of the guest in accordance to the service they received. Hello, from my point of view I'd prefer to take the bed-and-breakfast option and pay for any half day tours that we book while we are there. Also want to do the stargazing. is it possible to do all those things separately and pay separately? Thanks a lot best regards Stuart
