Tucked away on a gentle stretch of land in the outskirts of San Pedro, surrounded by the quiet presence of the Andes, Altiplanico San Pedro faces the impressive Licancabur Volcano, with a unique design inspired in the style of an Altiplano village. Enjoy the famous Atacama sunsets and relax from the smoldering sun in the fresh covers of our private terraces and beautiful swimming pool after a day exploring the driest desert in the world. Our stay at this hotel was great. The rooms have a large space, very well decorated and with really comfortable beds. They have a style made with adobe and I was surprised that being summer and with the extreme temperatures of the desert, these rooms stay quite cool without A / C. Large interior spaces in the hotel and a refreshing swimming pool as well. It is 5-7 minutes from downtown walking, therefore we are away from all central noise. very good.

We did not get off to a good start here as the woman at reception was extremely hostile towards us when we arrived. Indeed this was at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak and the tourism sector was to be hit hard by it, but she almost made us feel like we should not have been there. There were no guidelines to that effect in place in Chile at the time. However, she did mellow to us, perhaps being grateful for the fact that she still had a job at that point, but an attitude like that at a time of uncertainty was still not a nice experience for us as guests. Our room was very nicely furnished and was extremely comfortable, in an adobe style cottage. There was a nice sitting area inside and another outside, which we enjoyed using. The grounds were beautifully maintained, making for an enjoyable environment to stroll around and relax. We particularly enjoyed using the swimming pool and sitting on the loungers enjoying the views (including Licancabur volcano). Breakfast each morning was also really good, with a great choice and high quality. We were met with more hostility and rudeness when we asked for ice on one of the afternoons, which had kindly been provided by the bar staff the previous day. This time, a man from reception intervened when the bar staff had agreed to provide ice, instead overruling him to say that we could not have any ice, and that this is not a 5-star hotel, so we should not expect ice! It was not as if the place was busy and it felt like he went out of his way to be unaccommodating and rude. Wifi around the resort was patchy at best, which was not helpful given the situation and we needed to access our airlines' websites to make changes to upcoming bookings. However, there were iMacs in the reception area, which proved very useful indeed. We had to advise reception that we would need to cut our stay short but they were unwilling to offer a refund and instead finally agreed to a credit towards a future stay, which would not likely get used. When we checked out, I asked the same unfriendly woman for an invoice capturing that we cut our stay short, which she was most reluctant to provide. I am glad I insisted on this, as it was essential for any claim we were to make. However, as we had gone through Booking.com, they were able to sort it out after we had returned home and we received a refund for our unused nights. Based on the poor professionalism from staff we encountered, I do not think we would return to this hotel, but we would certainly go back to San Pedro.

Our stay at the Altiplanico Hotel was excellent. The staff were so very friendly and obliging. It has a restaurant on site which served a range of meals. Coffee and tea available all day at the refreshment station. Hotel also had a wee bar area and a nice area to sit and enjoy a drink. The rooms are spacious with a great sized bathroom too. All clean and airy as our room (311) had a huge window to let in the light or see the stars in the evening with an outside sitting area. Beautiful gardens which are tended everyday. Would highly recommend staying here.

Very nice place, designed and decorated in perfect harmony and accordance with the architecture in the area, Within the walls of the property, it was an oasis with all sorts of autochthonous plants. The only negative was the location, about a mile from the center of town, on a dusty street with no lights at all. The staff was friendly and helpful

One of the most relaxing places to stay anywhere. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Simple yet enchanting. Very good service, and extremely clean and organized. Food service and restaurant was very good with new items each night. Would good back again!
