The lady at the reception was very friendly. We had a double room with shared bathroom, located at the back. I could not call the shower warm, so I didn't shower. And I am surprised to read others had heating in the room, as we did not have heating. It was not too cold at night, so we also did...

Stayed here between Bolivia and heading down to central Chile. It is very well located, and at around $90 Canadian /night it seems much more reasonably priced than other options in town. It is a basic accommodation, but with plentiful hot water and a good bed. Drinking water from a dispenser was available, and the courtyard was pleasant (although if...

The strong points of this place are the price (80 dollars/night for a double, which was fine for San Pedro but overpriced anywhere else in Chile), location (quiet spot, but still just half a block from the busiest street in town), reliable internet access, hot water 24 hours a day, good heating during the whole night, excellent level of cleanliness,...

Stayed here Oct. 2011 after a dreadful room across the street & down to the right that had a nice look from outside w/a restaurant & canal but horrid tiny rooms in the back. The Hostel Katarpe was roomy and quiet. WIFI wasn't always spot on from the room, however could easily pick up in the center court where most...

We stayed here for three nights ($38000CLP per night) and thought it was fine. The room was simple but clean, the staff were friendly and the general premises were good. We had no problems with hot water supply and the heater in our room, although small, kicked out enough heat to keep us warm during the chilly nights

We last stayed here in 2006, and it is just as good in 2011 even though I think that it has grown quite a bit. We had two double rooms: they were both a reasonable size and were very clean. The beds were comfortable and everything in the small bathrooms worked well: decent hot showers, At night the rooms were...

This hostal was recommended by some brazilian forums and guides and it was definetly a good choice. We stayed there for about 7 nights and we had absolutely no problem. The staff was very helpful and always always very sympathetic. It's close to everything in SPA. It`s not a budget option, but the price is average in SPA.

We stayed our first night in San Pedro at another hotel that we found overpriced and not that comfortable. After walking around and checking out a bunch of other places, we moved to Katarpe the next morning and really enjoyed our stay there. As recommended in other reviews, we got a room at the back, which was really quiet. The...

After being let down by 2 other hostels who hiked their rates on our arrival vs what they promised on email, we found Katarpe Hostel. Very friendly lady, very quiet room, clean, nice feel about the place and WORKING internet strong connection everywhere. This was a real bonus. Considering how expensive San Pedro is, this Hostel was good value, a...

the hostel is OK, very central, clean but a bit noisy..ask for a room at the end, and not at the beginning, because you will wake up every morning at 4 a.m by people who goes out to the Gysers....
