Great place to stay in Rio in the Bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Very helpfull staff and owners. Excellent breakfast. A place to come relax and enjoy Rio. Very quiet and no problem to get a good sleep. Only suggestion would be to change the towels, as they did never dry in our room.

We were only in Rio for two days and Lance and his crew were so helpful in our making the most of our stay. The weather was changeable and they were able to advise us of our best opportunities to see the sights and great tips on places we wouldn't of ordinarily thought to go. We spent about four nights at Casa Cool Beans during our first trip to Rio and loved it! It was a different choice to all the downtown hotels, but we were glad we chose to stay in Santa Teresa which is a quaint and charming neighbourhood with cobble-stone streets and lovely architecture. It is a bit of hike from downtown...

Lance and David have put together a great team at CCB. Everyone there (Sergio, Marco, etc.) takes that extra step to make sure you are feeling comfortable in Rio. It's one thing for hotel/b&b staff to make themselves available to share advice on planning your day, but CCB takes it one step further by approaching you at breakfast to ask...

Myself and my friend stayed here for two nights at the end of our holiday in Brazil. The accomodation was perfect, everything had been thought of, from hooks in the bathroom, coat hangers, to irons and ironing boards in the communual area. The beds were comfy, and the room was spotless. The best bit for me however had to be...

We left Rio this morning after having an amazing time in Santa Teresa and staying at Casa Cool Beans. CCB was the best welcome we could have expected and we were greeted with a big warm smile from Marco at the airport after such a long tiring flight so we knew everything was going to be alright! Lance welcomed us...

We stayed here for five days and it was fantastic. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Santa Teresa is a great area to stay in. Taxi drivers may find it a little difficult to find but it is worth it to be in this funky safe area. The real draw of the place are the owners. They are absolutely dedicated...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
