I stayed here for 14 nights and felt right at home. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Anything I needed (reservations, advice, cabs,etc...) I was assisted with. The location has a nice view from Santa Theresa so even when you are at the Hotel you feel like you are not missing anything. You can have a drink and enjoy...

In August of 2007 my daughter and I had the pleasure of an extended stay at the Castelinho38. Having been a consultant and tour escort for a Latin American travel wholesale outfit, I've had extensive experience with lodging throughout South America. Few places offered the charm and friendliness as this one. It was a cultural experience, (like that of staying...

Castelinho38 was excatly what my girlfriend and I were looking for in Rio - a place to say with a soul not a lifeless, corporate hotel. The castle is an amazing building with beautiful views, well cleaned rooms with individual character and lovely people working there. We thought that the pictures on the Web don't do the Castelinho38 justice -...

I have NO idea why this place has such a high rating. we actually checked out of this place we thought it was so bad.....we have NEVER done that! The place itself is pretty cool, but these people have something to learn about running a business. Here is our experience basically - First, we asked for a transfer from the...

In Salvador I met some fellow travelers that told me about Castelinho38. This is a charming guest house in Santa Teresa. The place is just incredible, there is an air of magic about it. I mostly loved the main hall where they have big modern paintings and where you can chill out. Also the view from the terrace is really...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
