we stayed at Mango Tree for one night in November. It was on the same street as the airport bus, and only a couple of short blocks from the beach. The staff were very friendly and let us store our luggage there both before and after, gave us much information and booked trips on our behalf. We stayed in a... More

We found it hard to find good hostels in Rio and The Mango Tree was the best by far. The staff were very helpful - they even let us store our stuff there in the week before we checked in. Facilities were clean, and the transfers they organised were good too.

Mango Tree is a great hostel in a fantastic location - literally 2 seconds from the infamous Ipanema Beach. We had the presidential suite which was fantastic - clean spacious room and showeroom with a wall TV. There was also free internet and a cute little bar out back. The staff are really friendly and it's not at all loud.... More

Lovely hostel, clean, good atmosphere and a nice breakfast. The staff are very helpful, the location is very good, with the beach, restaurants, ATMs and shops very close, and the area is safe too. For New Years (and Carnaval), this place is quite expensive, but everything in Rio is for these times, so if you want to come at these... More

I stayed here in July 2011. Had an amazing time in Rio and especially at the Mango tree. I stayed in the dormitory and the private room. Both were excellent. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. Having stayed in almost all levels of accommodation in Rio - from the Sheraton down to another hostel, this was definitely... More

The Mango Tree is the nicest hostel in Rio we found (and we stayed at a fair few). Large rooms with lockable storage lockers. Clean, new and well maintained. Beautiful bathrooms. A large well stocked kitchen, internet, TV room and lovely outdoor dining area. Very close to Ipanema and some lovely local restaurants and bar. Hammocks in the garden area... More

I stayed here for two nights, booked a bed in a 6person dorm. It took the cab quite some time to find the place as there was no sign outside. The staffs were helpful. I arrived very early in the morning and could not check-in until noon but I was brought to rest in the living room. The staff said... More

I stayed at the Mango Tree as a single traveller. Prices for accommodation can be steep especially for a single traveller, especially in the Ipanema area. After looking around I found the Mango Tree offering nice rates, good location and receiving good feedback. I can fully justify this positive feedback. It's an excellent place, with a very nice vibe. Rio is expensive for travellers and we did quite a lot of research before our trip to find a good place. We paid £50/night for a double room here, which back at home we thought seemed expensive, but the room was really nice and we were really happy with our choice. The location is amazing, the staff were really really... More
