This hotel seems to have many different names... I stayed at the Hotel Martinique on Rua Sa Fereirra in Copacabana, part of the Windsor chain. It was definitely one of the better hotels for the price. My room had a great view, comfortable and clean...More

This was a decent hotel, clean with a helpful front desk staff and a good location 30 steps from Avenida Atlantica which runs along the beach. Really the best thing about this hotel is its location. Rooms were small but clean and maid service was...More
While traveling in Brazil, we tried to book four nights at the Martinique Copa after reading all these reviews stating this hotel is 'excellent'.

The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful
draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.

We spent 4 days at the hotel, travelled on the metro into the city, hired bicycles and visited Copacobana,Ipanema and the botanical gardens on these, walked Copacabana front in the evening and eat at a restaurant opposite the beach. In all this time we didn't feel threatened or see anything worrying. This hotel location is fine. You can see a favela up on the hill but it is some wAy off and wasn't relevant to us. If you are sensible and don't wander off alone you won't have any problems.
