Sure, the location is terrific (if you're into Copacabana that is), but I believe they are in desperate need for restoration. I actually saw some work being done, but I was not so lucky to get me a nice room. Staff was friendly, breakfast was ok, and one could argue "in Copacabana, thy shall not spend time in your hotel... Before you take stock in other negative reviews ask yourself - Is this hotel far more affordable than other beachfront hotels in Copacabana? Positives- the rooms are freshly painted, clean, air conditioned, great water pressure, LOCATION! Also very helpful and kind English speaking staff. I was not at all surprised for the price I paid that the breakfast was terrible... More

This hotel is located in a nice area with fantastic view of the beach: great location. However, it needs a SERIOUS remodeling/updating. The lobby looks like a motel you'd expect to find in the most depressing town on earth. It's a bit smelly and poorly decorated. The rooms (we were in two) are crappy and low quality. The upgrade we... More

Debret has a good point, its located in copacabana, AWESOME PLACE. I would not recommend for couples on a romantic vacation or for families. Hotel is good for bed/breakfast only. For the price, I would stay there again... for more money, I'd go somewhere else! Make sure you roll out of bed ten minutes prior to a sunrise on the... More

Best location on Copacabana, and you can definitely walk to Forte de Copacabana for a sunset or Ipanema Beach from here. Right across from the water with guys renting umbrellas and chairs for 5 Reals each. Location... can't be beat! Honestly, the hotel itself is run down, and they don't seem interested in making it look better. Walls in lobby... More

Debret has a good point, it is located in Copacabana in a wonderful place, walking distant to Ipanema. The hotel is old so you will realize that the reception, elevators and restaurant are decadent. Otherwise, the quality of the rooms is good and the breakfast is very good. If you are planning to stay in Rio to enjoy night life... More

Stayed here with my wife for three nights over New Year. Didn't book the hotel until late November and not a lot of choice of hotels in Rio. However, we were very glad we booked. Not cheap, but very good value considering it's such a busy period has a fantastic location on Copacabana beach. We were given a refurbished room,... More

I stayed in this hotel for almost 2 weeks, the room was ok, and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel might be in need of a slight facelift, but the location at Avenida Atlantica is good, you just have to cross the road to get to Copacabana beach, and the view from the breakfast room is superb. I had... More

I stayed in this hotel way back in 2003. It is an old, un-spectacular hotel but, considering it's position on Av. Atlantica on Copacabana beach, it is good value. Rooms are nothing special but spacious. The breakfast on the top floor is a highlight.

We booked this hotel to visiti for 3 days Rio. We staied in hotel Debret for 2 nights. The building structur is very old and to be defined but the breakfast on top of the bulding was breathtaking! When you are admiring the view of the copagabana seaside, you can have a breakfast with tipical fruits (papaya, mango, ananas...), dessert... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
