The best part about the hotel was the top storey swimming pool, with helpful staff. Thereafter matters went down hill. I thought the l location was ok, four blocks form Copacabana in a safe enough area. Everything was very basic, though our room was cleaned well every day. Food was dismal. This hotel has potential to be very good, but...

Rooms small but ok. Hanging space minimal. Shower-room small but ok. Small towels. Bar small, not ok. One barman for 100 odd people, doesn't work. No room in the bar so took our drinks to the lobby, asked to move, drinks not allowed in the lobby. Breakfast ok. So why have I given it 3 stars. Because it wasn't poor,...

The location was great and the pool small but nice. The room was dingy, musty and shabby with cheap, uncomfortable beds and bedding. My fingers went through the threadbare sheets. The bathroom was grubby and in need of refurbishment. The glass door on the shower was out of alignment and caused a huge noise every time we used it. Breakfast...

Part of a tour package. This hotel lacked anything of note. Room akin to Travel Lodge with less than adequate clothes storage. Towels looked old and tired even when clean. We were lucky to get a view of Christ The Redeemer. The landing areas are very dimly lit and look gloomy. The staff are generally unhelpful and at times miserable....

We stayed here for three nights and although the room was adequate it was lacking any frills. Very little of the staff had any command of even basic English, when I rang reception for some coat hangers I was told 'no you cannot smoke in your room '. The breakfast wasn't too bad but not not getting any stars. When...

Just stayed at this Hotel for three days as part of a tour. Our room was small and sparsely decorated, like a uni or youth hostel room. Beds were large and comfortable to be fair. The view was of the buildings opposite so not very pleasant. The landings were very small and dark as lights reacted to movement. Reception and...

Hotel has terrible smell of damp everywhere, bathroom, air conditioning and acoustics antediluvian- as someone on our tour said, a travel lodge in the U.K. would be much better. Restaurant is something like Faulty Towers! Not sure if I can stand three nights here oh dear! Probably fine for people looking for cheap and cheerful accommodation but definitely not for...

It depends what you want in a hotel . Good basic rooms great shower and ok location set back four blocks from Copacabana beach . The staff are really good particularly the concierge . He lent us a metro card and recommended local restaurants . We were never disappointed .

Rooms are a bit small, place is a bit run down but does the job. Breakfast was also alright. Sauna and pool are a definite plus and staff was very friendly. The location is good, not far from copacabana beach, although if you want to go out that's not really the place to be anymore!

A great hotel made even better by the very attentive staff. Not just comfortable but special mention for the great breakfasts and the magnificent rooftop bar/pool. Nothing was too much trouble from the provision of adapter plugs to advice about the subway.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
