I have been to Rio so many times: I am a huge fan of the Carioca mentality and I have been starting from the popular areas. In my early days I used to stay at Copacabana Palace, then I have experienced a bit of Ipanema (Caesar Park and MArina Suites) and recently I wanted to smell some hills flavor and...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is a great opportunity to be in a beautiful and artistic environment, since Santa Teresa is known as the home for the artists in Rio. I live in a house located in the historical neighborhood of Santa Teresa, with lots of green around in a very peaceful place. It’s a charming area, with bars and restaurants. Very near to the best spots in the neighborhood (stores, restaurants and bars), only 5 minutes by taxi , or 15 min walk from Lapa (the most bohemian neighborhood, and best Carnaval in Rio) you will be staying at a quiet street, in a pleasant house, with a garden to relax. ... more   less
