We stayed here for 6 days and found the hostal and staff to be really nice. Lagoa has a good vibe and all the staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Rio and transport on from there. The hostal does a BBQ night which is very sociable but don't expect too much food, it's more about drinking. There is...

My room was very small but it was fine for just me, I had aircon and I was close to the bathrooms. My room was clean but unfortunately the bathroom weren't quite as clean :-( the staff at this guest house were the most helpful I have probably ever encountered, Fabio is lovely and really went out of his way...

We´ve been travelling for 3 months so far around South America and Lagoa Guest House is by far the best experience we have had. We stayed for 5 nights starting 2 days before carnival and then for the first half of carnival. Right from the friendly greeting from Paul as we entered until we left we had a ball. It´s...

Stayed here for three nights in August in a double, private room (pink flip flop room) with a shared bathroom. Not overcrowded, we were worried about using the bathroom with it being shared but had absolutely no problems and there was always one free. The bathrooms were cleaned daily when we were there. Standard Brazilian breakfast of bread, cheese, ham,...

I stayed in their "individual" room (with WC and douche), for 180R$/night (it seems that their "normal" rate is even higher). The room was not really clean, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. Also, the place is quite noisy: it's just next to the common room, with a big TV on the thin wall separating them, so that you...

Really friendly staff and atmopshere, as well as a good breakfast and nice communal areas made this hostel the best out of 3 I stayed in during my time in Rio. Don't miss Roses' saturday night lapa tours.

Awesome! While strategically located near Lagoa and Ipanema beach, it's also very easy to go to other famous places from there, either by bus, metro or cab. This is because the hostel is located near an important street confluence, allowing easy access to different routes. The staff is very receptive and makes you just feel at home. The whole place...

We stayed at Lagoa over New Year, and had the most wonderful experience. The staff are great, and we always felt that we were very well looked after - city tips and advice, help with bookings, and amazing NYE bbq. A wonderful atmosphere and great Rio experience - after a year of backpacking around South America, this hostel was a...
