Lovely place, fantastic view, great service, clean. ***** Villa lenor is a perfect place to stay during your holiday. The bar was amazing! And the room was fantastic! Well connected with the other place, easy to move from there. Affordable price.

Awesome views, wonderful atmosphere, it is the sort of place frequented by "quality" travellers, the sort that truly enjoy travelling, meeting new people and share their stories while gazing over the stunning views that Rio and Santa Teresa offers. The place's gem is, in fact, it's terrace and the lovely bar. I found it clean, friendly and affordable, immersed in...

i would not stay anywhere else in Rio, this pousada has all the selling points to me! it's very close to Lapa, enough to walk there in 10 minutes at night to go our in bars and clubs, but not close not be able to sleep at night because of the street noises and loud music! it's on a hill...

The hotel and room were acceptable but it is far from the city and you cannot go by walk if you have a suitcase to carry. The bus don't go there so the only way to go there is by taxi. There is a nice terrace with the city view. Breakfast is served there. If you wish to cook there...

For those who want a place out of cocacabana and want to explore Santa Teresa and Lapa this is ideal for the price. Beyond this it is not great, the rooms are small and most importantly they are not cleaned and ours had a bad toilet smell. When we arrived our shower and toilet had not been cleaned and for...

Stayed three nights, room small but ok for a 3 night stay. Breakfast was good, cold cuts, cake, cereal, fruit and lots of great coffee all eaten on a balcony overlooking Rio. There are some great bars and restaurants on the doorstep and good street food on the square. The nighlife of Lapa is a short walk downhill, this is...

We just spent one night in villa leonor. The Spanish guy was so kind with us , we arrived without a booked room and we ended up in a room for four people (we were in 2) and with a discount on the total price , 50 reais each with breakfast included. From the terrace there is a stunning view...

Still one of our favourite hostels in South America. We stayed for six nights in the week leading up to the World Cup. Our room was a good size with a small mezzanine which was useful for storing our stuff. We had a problem with the shower the first day and they couldn't do enough to make sure we got...

Great vibe. Music, food & parties on the terrace look like great fun (though we were there for the city itself, not just the hostel). Really friendly & knowledgeable staff (in a variety of languages, including very good English). Good people always mean a lot. The place makes a good base in an interesting area beyond the usual tourist spots...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
