I would recommend to take own sheets and pillow covers. But otherwise the hostel was safe and u could also cook ur food. The bathrooms were clean and tidy and so were the rooms. The staff were friendly and ready to help. And yes they speak English... ☺️☺️

We stayed in this hostel during the Rio2016 Olympics. Because we knew Rio would be busy we booked almost a year in advanced. I hardly ever write a review, bevause with hostels you often get what you pay for and that is fine, but this time we (me and my girlfriend) where really dissappointed. First of al, the staff is...

I stayed during Carnaval, so the prices did go up when carnaval started, but you can't escape that. It was a bit of a hike up a steep street to get there, but the hostel was really nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a co-ed dorm room, and it was nice. So hot during...

Hostel is of average quality. The rooms are good, the staff is friendly and the shared room+balcony at the top floor is great. However, it clearly lacks hygiene as compared to other hostels in the area. Together with the fact that you have to walk quite uphill to get to the hostel, there are in my opinion better hostels available...

The location of this place makes it a hidden little gem but what really made me happy was the staff, they are so helpful and friendly. Adriana, which is the owner was so nice, she accommodated a modification to our reservation which allowed us to take a day trip to Arraial do Cabo, she even made a suggestion on where...

My friend and I stayed here for about 6 nights. There were problems with the booking on arrival as they only had my friend booked in and not me but thankfully they were not busy so it was ok. Stayed in a 6 bedded female dorm. It was quiet though so most of the time it was just us and...

Pros: - relatively cheap for Rio - Very clean - Good location near Copacabana, a few streets in from the beach Cons: - Staff isn't very knowledgeable - Only one staff member knows English well - Only two of the eight electricity outlets in the dorm room worked - Lightbulbs for the personal overhead lights in the dorm were missing...

We stayed here for a few nights. Very close to beach, shops and restaurants. Unfortunately it was very quiet when we stayed here, we don't know whether we were 'out of season' or something, but we would've preferred a party hostel. We did have a night out with some of the staff members, which was really fun. The staff were...

First of all, we booked the hostel a year in advance due to us staying in Rio during the world cup. Before we arrived Rio we checked tripadvisor to look for any roomtips and other nice to know. The first review we read was the one regarding a "missing" reservation, so to be sure we sent a mail to her...

We booked the hostel nine months in advance through Hostelbookers - and got the confirmation straight away, but two weeks before our trip, checking about airport transfer to the hostel we found out that our booking never existed with Rio Backpackers... So instead of having a private double, we had a shared 6-bed dorm with no locked door and people...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
