The best thing with Casa Amarelo and the reason why coming here is the space you will find everywhere; the rooms, the living room/public area, the garden, the pool area etc. Casa Amarelo got a very nice pool and is located a little higher up from the house surrounded by green area, bushes, trees etc. Good breakfast where the staff...

Magnificient house at Santa Teresa, peaceful, nice and highly comfortable. The Premium decoration is refined and contemporary. The location is not so close from the touristice heart of the city. But what a charm !

We were in Casa Amarelo in May 2015. We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historical house located in the best part of Rio, Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa is like a little Montmartre, it is a very authentic place where you can easily meet people. The boutique hotel itself is very cosy and vey nice decorated. You feel at...

Casa Amarelo is a beautifully located historic building,. The hotel is very comfortable and stylish. The staff could not have been more helpful. So much nicer than a souless "international chain" type hotel that could be anywhere (we've all stayed in them)!

Nested in a luxuriant garden where we could see monkeys, Casa Amarelo was the perfect home away from home: cosy, great interior design, elegant simplicity, clean, good service, amazing view on Rio by the pool. Quiet yet in the heart of lively Santa Teresa.

Arrived very early in the morning off a TATL flight. only the night maid there (no English) but she showed us to a temporary room where we could shower and change and gave us some coffee. Beautiful old house with many comfortable places to relax. The staff was incredibly helpful in arranging taxis, suggesting things to do, etc. The area is bohemian and eclectic, an easy walk to the bars in Lapa (though I would take a taxi back at night) and other sights in the center of the city. I would recommend this place as...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
