We stayed in the room with sea view and bathroom, good acoustics, clean too, clean pool.
Everything well organized.
Point for being a 100% non-smoking hotel.

We were placed in a room that looked like a basement, I had rhinitis, I went in and started sneezing, it was in front of the pool, so I couldn't leave it open to ventilate, on the side there was the wardrobe and the parking lot, it made a lot of noise. We asked to change room and the reception staff said that there was no other available, we were desperate and after a lot of insistence he said that there was a vacant room. We changed room and we didn't know what was the worst, the air conditioning was old, it was leaking water and making noises, the "veranda" window was torn, to close the door of the room, had to force it to lock, the wardrobe door was running, it seemed like it would fall every time we needed to move, it was sticking.
Towels and sheets stained and old, the replacement of the towels were made every two days, if you want every day, you have to pay R$3,00 per towel. They do not provide beach towel, if you want to use in the pool you have to pay R$5,00.
There is no outdoor shower, that is, we enter wet and with the foot full of sand in the room, the cleaning leaves to be desired.
The pillows were pretty bad, thin and there was only one for each and only one sheet to cover.
The breakfast was quite reasonable, they were the same things every day, the same fruits. They made tapioca “at the hour” which took more than 20 minutes to bring to the table.
Hotel very far from the center, practically has nothing nearby. There is a bar/restaurant next door and for those staying in the south wing like I stayed, good luck! Late music every day.
The front beach is beautiful and clean.
Wi-Fi had virtually no signal.
They left us without toilet paper, no floor mat in the bathroom.
A horrible shower, a very small shower that almost never leaves water and still pings cold water, a very strong smell of chlorine, looked like pool water.
Safety leaves nothing to be desired, as the restaurant is open to the public at coffee, lunch and dinner.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, worse we have stayed.

Room as reserved, privileged view of the beach and swimming pool as requested, not to mention that it is foot in the sand.
Spectacular breakfast, with a super variety of options that changed every day, tapiocas made on time on orders.
Hotel staff all very friendly and welcomed to all requests.
In general the hotel TOP!!!

The hotel elevator had an overwhelming odor of mold, probably from guests using the elevator directly after the swimming pool. Our room was not much better: there were no hangers in what passed for a closet and the bathroom was very small and uncomfortable.
The bed had only 2 of the flimsiest pillows I've seen in a long while. We called the front desk to see if they could send up 2 more. We waited for a while, but finally gave up and went out. When we returned, we called the front desk again, and with a new shift on duty, it was an easy task (as it should've been the first time we asked). The bed was so uncomfortable that I hardly slept at all.
When I moved the pillow, I discovered that there was an electrical outlet behind the pillow on the headboard. I don’t know what the building code is, but I’m pretty sure that an outlet behind a pillow would not b on the “good idea” list.
I have never stayed in a hotel that didn’t have a room safe, until I stayed here.
Overall, I won’t be staying here again, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone that I like.
Hotel is not in the center, but the place is quiet and there are some restaurant options nearby!

As for the city itself, I discovered no redeeming features. Even the official Tourist Office was not enthusiastic, saying "Don´t bother wasting your money on a taxi to see the "historic center". Above all there was (in late November 2017) an all pervading smell of sewage, apparently a long-standing problem not addressed by the local government.
We decided to cut short our one week holiday after three days. Despite the rave reviews on Booking.com etc of the Bessa Beach Hotel I would advise normal foreigners to stay away, both from the hotel and from Joao Pessoa itself.
