The hotel itself is quite historic, and has been around for ages, and it shows. It’s not the fanciest hotel out there, but they offered great service, the rooms were clean, and the air conditioning worked well. The hot water in the bathroom was never functional, but didn’t mind. They also were great in getting my laundry done in a day (gave in the morning and collected in the evening). Their restaurant is decent, but given the multiple options around that area, you are probably better off eating out. The breakfast had a decent spread of local cuisine and bread/eggs etc. The location is special, it’s overlooking the famous Amazonas Theatre, and it’s walking distance to many local sites in the old city.

Hotel Manaos had a friendly, accommodating staff and our room was clean, bed's comfortable and there was air conditioning. The location was fabulous...right across from the Opera House and an easy walk to the markets and the harbor. I'd go there again if we went through Manaus!

The rooms have been refurbished recently, but the rest is super old. The lobby is very dark. The hotel looks closed from the outside. Staff is very nice, and breakfast of very good standard. Wifi is rather slow. The location is very good, some rooms with views on the theater. The major problem is the wafer thin windows. The intersection where the hotel is located is very busy, and it sounds like you are sleeping in the street. Furthermore, nearly across the hotel, there is a bar playing very loud rock music on the street. Finally, on Sat night, the streets are very busy and noisy with people who had too many caipirinhas. There are rooms at the back (not on the streets), but I have not checked them out. Having said that, the Go Inn hotel, 100m away, is much more modern and cleaner. It costs the same price 140 R. Even if breakfast is of very low standard there.

For convenience to the Teatro Amazonas it can't be beat and the price is pretty good also. Rooms are clean, they have internet, and the breakfast is pretty tasty, but they don't have much else. There is no room service or lunch or dinner service. Upon returning from the Amazon Jungle Tour I arranged to have a weeks worth of laundry for 3 done and it was ready as promised. Hotel is located right next to the Teatro Amazonas on a major thoroughfare and the windows are only single panes. Traffic noise was very loud until 10 pm and resumed at 6 am.

I have been to the Hotel Manaos four times now. The Hotel is clean, the rooms are clean and well furnished. The beds are soft but firm, the television is big and has a few English speaking channels. The bathrooms are tiled with the shower more than adequately sized. There is a safe in each room for valuables and a closet to hang clothes. The air conditioning is very good with a remote. It is situated right across the street to the world famous Amazon Opera House and many examples of colonial architecture. There are restaurants, grocery stores within very easy walking distance and it is a reasonable walk to the port/wharf area. The staff is extremely attentive and very pleasant. Breakfast in the morning is a very pleasant surprise. There is coffee with hot milk, two or three different types of juices from fruits in the region, small breads, cheese and ham, fried yucca (delicious) papaya halves, bananas, yogurt, all kinds of little sandwiches, regional cheeses and a heated tray with eggs and cut up pieces of salsicha (which sure look like hot dogs to me) :) Anyway, the breakfast is ample and free and it is easy to load up and sustain yourself for quite a while. By international standards it is not a five star hotel but it certainly makes a good argument for a four star in terms of service, safety, cleanliness, value for your money, and location location location.

Hotel Manaos is in an excellent location on the opposite corner to the famous Opera House, and in the main shopping street. The room was very good, clean, very good bathroom, and air conditioned. Good breakfast included.

The Manaos is a very traditional hotel close to the Teatro Amazonas. Localization couldn't be better. All basic needs are fulfilled, the beds are big, new and comfortable, installations are ok, AC powerful, the room floor is new ceramic. The place is definitely a bit rotten (like lots of others in town), but it's clean, the breakfast is rich, and after trying out lots of other hotels in town, I always come back to this one. Just the best package. It even has a certain decadent charm.

An interesting Hotel as first impression is that the decor is a little tired, that said what matters is service, the clean room we enjoyed, a window that opens to get fresh air, a great location and a good breakfast. This is the location to be within walking distance to the wharf, opposite the opera house and good cheap eating places, cotton sheets and a firm bed .

I say this is the best hotel in the city because it's in the very best location - across from the Teatro Amazonas (aka the Opera House), which is the only clean and tranquil place to be in the city. In addition, the hotel is clean, has hot water, and offers an extensive breakfast buffet included in the price. Even though we couldn't communicate as much as I would have liked due to the language barrier, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I felt safe and welcome, and my room was quiet. I slept well and enjoyed the huge HD flat screen television and several channels in English. I looked around at other downtown hotels, and don't think anything can beat this one. Ask for a room with a view of the teatro!

Like I said, we got off the slow boat in Manaus and were ready for a good nights rest on a bed (instead of the hammocks we'd slept in the previous 3). Checking in was fast and simple, even without a reservation. We checked out the room before settling, and it looked fine. I had to ask for towels and shampoo that were missing from the bathroom, and they sent them up. The tv was enormous compared to the size of the room...we stayed on New Years Eve so weren't up in time to know anything about breakfast, but when we checked in the hotel restaurant was just closing. They weren't specific about a check out time and didn't give us any trouble for vacating the room at 1 pm. We paid 140 Reales cash up front, and it was worth it.
