Very nicely decorated. Nice touches. Comfortable. Husband wanted to watch trains and barges on the river. My relaxation was going to be reading and watching television. Little did we know when the brochure said "tv and dvd" they meant a tv screen to play 2nd rate old worn dvd's on and that the tv was not functional. When I inquired... More

I am sorry that your stay at the hotel was less than satisfactory. My website does clearly state that I have flat screen TVs and DVDs. You seem to have read that. I can not know exactly my wording but when the TV issue comes up, probably 3 or 4 times a year at most, I explain to my guests... More

This is a great place if you like the homey comforts of a B&B but want more privacy. Our unit included a living room with a small kitchenette (full fridge, sink, oven, dishes), a table to play board games, a nice TV, and even a desk for my sister to do her homework. The downstairs gave us a comfortable living... More

So much attention has been given to the furnishing & decorating. It's beautful & very comfortable. Having a complete kitchen allowed us to enjoy more time in the suite. The hotel website does a great job showcasing the properties. Usually we don't plan to spend a lot of time in our room when traveling. This place was such a joy,... More

This small town on the Mississippi has more to offer than I first realized. We stayed in a two bedroom suite with another couple and were very comfortable in the accommodations--clean, visually appealing, super comfy beds, and our multi story suite included a living and dining area (including equipped kitchen for meals) to entertain, plus a small balcony to watch... We have stayed here before and we love this quaint little town. We had 6 of us and we were all able to stay in one of the houses across the street from the main office. It was furnished fabulously and our only regret was that we didn't have more time to hang out and enjoy it. The beds were... More

Visited the Hotel de Ville over the Labor Day weekend. I found it on TripAdvisor where it was listed as #2 place to stay in Alma. Actually we didn't see a whole lot of other places to stay except for the Blue Door Inn. Sure glad we went with #2! An old hotel that has been decorated in antiques. We... More

Work requires me to spend too many nights in "warehouses for humans" (think any major chain). Thank goodness this is not that kind of place. Hotel de Ville shows the creative and free spirited approach of the owners who saved the old buildings that house the rooms, and decorated them in the most creative way imaginable. Every room I saw... More

The best way to describe this hotel, the hosts, and the town is "quirky". This is a great little hotel if you are looking for something off the beaten path. Be prepared for a little train and street noise. The hotel itself is quite charming and very comfortable. We stayed in the cottage which had all the kitchen utensils needed.... More

The hotel de ville is located in a picturesque, old fashioned town with a breathtaking view from a bluff. The rooms are tastefully equipped with all the amenities and numerous antiques and curiosities. The host is charming, knowledgeable, and loquacious.

We got an amazing tour of the rooms with wonderful background information. It is a very friendly place. Each room had some thing unique. Our tour guide was full of information and you could tell that he loved what he was doing.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de Ville is located right in the town of Alma Wisconsin which is listed on the National Historical Register. The suites and rooms are appointed in period antiques with a french accent. They are the finest in this part of the State. Our guests love our French formal and Italianate gardens as much as they love our pillow top queen or king mattresses. All Suites have air conditioning which is not the norm in Alma. The stunning Empire Room restaurant is on site and is a destination in itself. Hotel guests are always first in line for reservations. You can enjoy a beer or cocktail on our patio. We look forward to meeting you! ... more   less
