A Japanese old house style hotel located behind Hirosaki park which is famous for its cherry blossoms. The building has around 100 year-history and wood interior is really elegant. No toilet or bathroom in your room, you have to share them with other guests (you can occupy a bath room with a reservation in advance). It is not a good...

I had a wonderful stay in this ryokan. The owner and his wife made my stay very special. The hot tub was very relaxing and room was clean and spacious. I even got a welcome drink and a lift to the train station upon leaving! The building itself is 150 years old so keep that in mind and don't expect...

It is a Ryokan, so do not expect a modern hotel! Especially during winter. If you are willing to take the "adventure", you are having a wonderful stay close to the park and the castle. The owner and the staff are very friendly and supporting. No matter what you want to do, ask them. You will get some good tips!

If you are used to or expect to stay in a typically comfortable, well-provided accommodation, this may not suit you. Instead, it's a perfect place to experience traces of traditional Japanese living dated back to decades ago. The 18 room Ishiba Ryokan was originally a samurai house (please note that the photo in Trip Advisor review front page is of...

Warm hospitality is experienced from the owners of this authentic ryokan along with delicious breakfasts, a comfortable warm room and hot bathing (it was snowing some of my stay). Hirosaki has plenty to fill a three day (or longer) stay - castle and park, heritage area with meticulously conserved samurai houses, lots of food choices at small restaurants, shops with...

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid-November. The host was very kind and helpful. He took us to restaurants as there was not much nearby the ryokan. However, on arrival the tatami room was being heated by an old kerosene heater that did not burn well and the room smelled of kerosene exhaust that was both strong and nauseating....

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights before heading off to Aoni Onsen. I was on the outset a little apprehensive about Hirosaki because it doesn't appear to be a key point on a tourists trip to Japan, but this soon changed. Hirosaki was by far the most personal, memorable and welcoming place I have been to in...

I arrived at Shin Aomori heading south from Hakodate and changed to the local rail line with my JR pass to Hirosaki. It took approximately 1 hour to arrive in this beautiful Japanese city with over 400 years of history and culture. I followed the instructions from the ryokan to get there, and boarded the tiny Dotemachi Loop bus right...

From the station, the inn is about 20 minutes on the bus and then a 5-minute walk. The tatami room was fine, with separate toilet and bath areas that were rather old-fashioned. The host was extremely helpful - driving us to a shamisen restaurant one evening and back to the station when we left. We also enjoyed a free welcome...

Not only we enjoyed this property, also had a great time walking around the neighbourhood, Hirosaki Koen (Park & Castle) and Tugaru-Han Neputa-Mura (where you can see Hirosaki Neputa exhibit and learn Tsugaru Shamisen) etc. The owner and his wife are extremely nice!! Ishiba-san provided us lots of useful tips and interesting facts. Speaking of Tsugaru-Shamisen, I loved the music...
