Strongly recommend. The location of the hotel saves your time and energy. If one wants to experience the beauty of Japan, the hot spring spirit of Japan, and the art of Japanese food, the Hotel Kane Midori is your first choice.

Went during summer and got the family room big enough for 3 adults and 2 small kids. Call them while we were at Karuizawa waiting for the bus to Kusatsu and the shuttle bus was waiting for us when we got that, which was great. The staff don't speak much English but were very attentive and helpful all throughout... the...

Room was nice and comfortable. Good ryokan-style dinner, food was beautifully arranged and served. It was delicious! Breakfast was okay though.. They also have private open air onsen, but you have to pay for a fee.

Location: ideal. near town centre and bus station. Meals: excellent. Hospitality: first class. Service impeccable. We stayed 2 nights after our Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine visit ; on our way back to Tokyo. It was worth the detour. Although we had difficulty locating the hotel,( it did not have a huge signboard), it was a nice walk from the bus station. Reception...

We stayed overnight at Kanemidori ryokan in Kusatsu. On arrival at the bus terminal, we called the ryokan and were promptly picked up in a luxury minibus. We chose to have dinner in a private dining room at the ryokan's restaurant which was around $75 /head which was expensive but worth every penny. Breakfast was nice but a bit too...

The ryokan was only a few minutes’ walk to the Yubata, but it could take you ages to get to it if you drive because the Yubata main street area was a maze of very narrow streets, most of them one-way but were not clearly marked as such. Compared to the other onsen ryokans we had visited before, I would...
