First of all, pay the little bit extra and get the gorge view room. It is absolutely beautiful. The building itself is like many state owned property in need of some repair. Many places the concrete has come off and rebar is showing through (like sitting on patio, look up above you) many of the blocks are discolored. They have...

Stayed on the gorge side of the lodge and the view from our balcony was spectacular. The staff was outstanding and the room was clean and bright. The breakfast was definitely continental with only cereal and toast and cakes. But the views with breakfast were well worth the lack of choices. Only some rooms have microwaves and refrigerators.

The HNSP Lodge is conveniently located to all the New River Gorge activities. We requested "canyon view" and were not disappointed. We had a balcony to sit on and watch the trains pass down in the gorge each afternoon. The nightly charge was a bargain and the room was very clean. The charge included a continental breakfast at the lodge's...

This is a wonderful place to visit, especially if you like breath taking views of the mountain. Close by is a trail to really get a birds eye view of the valley. The beauty in the park and at the resort are amazing. If you want to feel close to nature this is a great place for you. It is...

From the outside, the lodge looks a little run down but once you get inside, it's actually very nice. We stayed in a corner suite with a great view of the canyon. It was very clean and cute. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

We booked one night, the room was very nice with a fantastic view of the gorge. We took the tram down to the jetboat and enjoyed the views and the jetboat captain was very entertaining. Nice trails on the property with breathtaking views.

This was my 2nd stay at the Hawks Nest Lodge--once again it was very enjoyable. The place has a beautiful view of the New River gorge and you can hear and see the train running across the track at the water. There is a 10 pm curfew so it's a quiet place to stay. Just don't plan on eating in...

We were traveling to Virginia from Indiana. We did not want to stop overnight in Charleston so we decided to go off the beaten path to Hawks nest. Best decision yet! They had a beautiful room with a view of the gorge. We travel with our dog and the room was very clean not like some chains. Nice dining room....

We had a great time at this beautiful spot. The room was nice with local handmade soaps. The nearby trails were great and not to hard to maneuver with my bad ankle. Staff was so sweet and welcoming. Only problem was the restaurants food. Again the staff was gracious But the food was awful. Very old food on the buffet....

This small state park is worth the visit if you're travelling through West Virginia on US 19. It is only a about 10 miles from US 19, located on the rim of the New River Gorge. There are really fine views of the gorge and there is a tram that will take you down to the river if you don't...
