Lodge itself is in need of repair and updating. Rooms however were up-to-date, comfortable, clean, and the view of the gorge was spectacular. Front desk folk ranged from cold to extremely nice and helpful. Grounds are beautiful and the bridge visitor center was nice and full of learnings. The drive under the bridge is well worth the 45 minutes. Scenery...

On a recent swing through West Virginia on the way through to Nashville, we had the pleasure of staying one night at Blackwater and then the following night at Hawks Nest. Here at Hawks Nest, they certainly know how to do it right. The minute we walked into the lobby, we were greeted by a friendly staff who go the...

If you want to get off the beaten path and see West Virginia take US 60 South instead of I64 when going from Charleston to Lewisburg or White Sulpher Springs. It will take you at least two hours longer and challenge your driving skills, not to mention you passing skills when you get behind someone form Kansas who is driving...

The hotel staff was friendly and helped us find our room. Nice breakfast in the restaurant. My view in my room was amazing. My only down fall was there was no cold water in the faucet and i tried to shower and there was no hot water after 1 min of being in the shower. Other than that the room...

I wanted to thank the staff for mailing back my favorite pillow that I left behind in my room. This was going the extra mile for me. I will say however that I did not need it b/c the pillows and the bed in my room were the most comfortable I think I've ever had in a hotel. Both my...

This is a quiet place to relax. The room was clean and neat. The bed and bedding were wonderful! Very comfortable. Make sure you get a room on a high level so you have a view. The restaurant was extremely disappointing. I had read a number of reviews that advised against going there, and they were correct. The service was...

We had a great time! Do know though the outdoor pool is only open on summer days. The beds were more like home beds than your average hotel bed! Come on in! You will love it! You will need a strong car engine though, to get up the good ole' WV mountains.

We visited the second week of October. Weather was great. Room accommodations were very nice, very clean. Slept very well! We decided to have supper in the on site restaurant. That's where the bad comes in...they were out of lots of dinner items. Restaurant opened at 4, we were there before 5:30. Out of meatloaf, out of crab cakes. What...
