I've stayed at Bunkhouse's sister property Hotel Cecilia twice before, which I love. It's like the fancy older sister to this property. While I loved the grounds at Hotel San Jose (very tropical and lush--a great place to wander and photograph), I didn't particularly like other aspects of the property. The rooms are laid out almost like a summer camp,...

I expected more from a "Grand Suite" at $400 a night in January than cold cement floors, a loud heater/air conditioner in the room, a put together day bed, and poor lighting. In its favor were the nice bath and the patio. This was room 33 on the quiet side of the hotel. Breakfast is good, not included, and can...

The hotel is a great place to stay in the middle of the action. The staff are extremely helpful and fun. The hotel has a cool vibe to it and is very simple in the design, If you have ever stayed at the Ace in Palm Springs it is very similar. The beds are very comfortable. The street room can...

We love the HSJ! It is the only place we will stay when visiting Austin. The staff is super accommodating, friendly and they LOVE our dogs. The rooms are comfy and casual with a fridge packed with local and tasty treats.

PROS - stylish decor - great location right on the SoCo strip - great manager - good bar and good food CONS - the bar is loud late and live music for brunch starts EARLY - no tub in the room - no on-site gym - in-room snacks and soft drinks aren't free like at similarly-priced boutique hotels - no...

We loved the Hotel San Jose. The grounds are incredible and everything is perfectly designed. The interior, at least in our room, is a little spare but over the top luxury is not what they are going for here. Everything is tasteful and nothing unnecessary is present. Drinks in the courtyard are wonderful, though its beer and wine only

Very pleasant. Staff is most helpful and friendly. Easy parking. Perfect place to stay in the South Congress District. Very minimalist decor, tastefully done. Peaceful outdoor sitting spaces. Interesting neighborhood.

Love it! What a wonderful property in the city. Staff is so accommodating. If you do not stay at least stop into the plaza area for some food and or drink and relax and enjoy the special environment. The rooms are bungalows in architectural style detailed quite well.

I got to spend 4 nights here recently while attending events around the F1 US Grand Prix and had a great time. The property is in a great location on South Congress street and situated close to lots of restaurants, shops and clubs. You are also close to downtown Austin and and the bridge all those cool bats live under....
