This area has fantastic birding opportunities even outside migration periods and the Alamo Inn provided us with everything we could want to get the best out of our first visit to the area.We stayed in the cottage which was great ,had all the amenities for full self catering and a lovely bird friendly garden. Large Hummingbird suite was ideal for friends sharing. Great sized kitchen and lounge enabled us to relax after days out. The rooms were well furnished and homely. Keith provided birding information tailored to our needs and both he and his wife were very kind in providing help when one of us was taken ill. The shop downstairs provide us with...

Thanks to Keith and company for a wonderful 3-night stay, and wish it had been longer. Very comfortable, quiet, and spacious 2nd floor Hummingbird Suite for 3 adults -- the only surprise was that none of the windows are openable. Extremely convenient and substantive breakfast and lunch items (at a modest additional cost per meal), which were perfect for long...

This quaint little inn has everything you need, in a great central location for a great price. There is food available at all times if needed in the kitchen area. I been back multiple times and would highly recommend to all responsible visitors.

Using the many excellent reviews on Tripadvisor.com I booked a week for my group coming from Phoenix, AZ. We were not disappointed--in the marvelous accommodations, or the warm hospitality, or the knowledge and abilities of the owner and his staff. And that's not saying anything about the great birds to be found in this part of the country! The city...

Once again, the Alamo Inn has proven to be the best base for birders visiting the Rio Grande Valley. No other lodging facility in the region caters so well to birders, with an excellent store, custom breakfast and lunch options, very spacious and comfortable rooms, and superb hospitality.

We booked for 3 nights but stayed for five. the rooms are clean and roomy. More like apartments. We are not birders, but were open minded and wound up learning a lot and went to several wildlife refuges in the area. The price is right the people are nice.

Centrally located for many birding hotspots in the whole valley. We originally booked 3 nights and ended up staying 10! Very large comfortable , quiet suites with a good breakfast available and lunch selection too ( to pack if wanted), as well as very good restaurants close by. Keith provided excellent updated birding info with maps. An amazingly well equipped...

There's no better place in the Rio Grande Valley to stay than the Alama Inn. Its suites are huge. The one I stayed in for $52 a night had a fully equipped kitchen and a living room and TV as big as mine at home. It's quiet. I hardly heard a noise the entire time I was there, although I...
