Stayed here on a one-night business trip recently, it’s a good location close to Abilene Christian University, with some pretty strong dining options within a couple of miles (or one could drive 10 minutes to downtown and find some other really good options, too).

Seems to be an older property with some roof damage from previous weather, and if your in-room fridge does not produce ice (like what happened with me), there are no icemakers except in the kitchen area, so desk staff will have to help you. I was very pleased that they were able to check me in hour early, but I was not pleased that within 30 seconds into my room, a housekeeper barged in without knocking, because she wasn’t finished cleaning my room yet. I didn’t make a big deal of it, but the kitchen trash remained unemptied, and the bathroom counter was a little bit messy.

After my first four hours, my freezer still had not produced any ice, so I took the ice tray down to the front desk to request some ice, and the clerk behind the desk asked me in a very condescending way, “well, did you turn the icemaker on?“ I won’t type how I responded, but she very quickly got me ice from kitchen.

Still, this is a very good location away from the downtown area, and let’s face it… Some of the other lodging options closer to downtown are pretty sketchy. This place is quiet, you’re within walking distance of a Hooters (which is actually one of the nicer ones I’ve ever been in), and you’re a very short drive from a lot of other food options. I will definitely stay here again.

I had to rooms for our Regional Track Meetin Abilene, I called several hotels to get ahold of Denise. She understood our issue of having an athlete that needed to qualify to keep his room the next night. We had others coming up the next night that also added to our dilemma of the number of rooms necessary for the second night. Denise was more than accommadating for us each day and when we needed another room she was able to help us out again. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The hotel was less than 5 minutes to ACU where the meet was. There is a Walmart about a mile away with several places to eat nearby as well. Thank you Denise, Luis, and Chris for all you did to make our stay a good stay.

Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Hotel was quiet. Breakfast was really good, offering oatmeal with 8 toppings, warm croissants with ham and cheese, and warm biscuits with cheese and herbs among more standard items. Fresh fruit was also offered.

This was our 3rd or 4th time over the last few years to stay at this Residence Inn. All previous stays were great. But this last visit was undoubtably the worst that we have experienced at any hotel in the last 10 years or so.
Our stay was for four (4) nights. Not once did our rooms (in a two-room suite) get the requested, minimal "freshening up". There was no wastebasket emptying nor any kind of cleanup of the kitchenette area. Never got the beds made. Had to intercept a rare cleaning staff person in the hallway to get a replacement toilet paper roll. This hotel experience ruined our otherwise very enjoyable Abilene visit.
The one rare positive for this hotel stay was the nice woman (I think she was originally from Romania) who manned the front desk. She was a delight to work with. She tried to help us and repeatedly left notes for the cleaning staff - but to no avail.

We stay in a lot of Marriott properties because of the location, predicable quality, and people. The Residence Inn has easy access on/off access to freeway. We like the kitchen when stay for more than a few days, and room was quiet. Abilene Residence Inn feel short for us we’ve stayed in better. The following comments might seem a little petty, but as mentioned we have expectations. Property seemed dated an a little worn. No one greeted us at checking, no option offered on points or pantry credit, room was just OK. Breakfast other than being included was just OK.

The last Residence in received a 5 star.

We really wanted to love this place. The front desk people are so nice and friendly. Very helpful.

The lobby is pretty. The place is very clean. The bathroom facilities are very satisfactory The air conditioner worked great. Love the kitchenette. There’s a microwave, fridge, a lovely little living room. A very good, free breakfast. And although the place is outdated, it’s very clean, so that wasn’t an issue.
So what’s not to love? The most important part of any overnight stay is the bed and pillows and this place failed miserably. The mattress is old and very saggy. You can’t pull yourself out of the body-shaped saggy part. The pillows feel like a dish rag inside a pillow case.
Had the bed been half decent, we would have loved this place. Too bad they forgot the primary reason for a hotel is a comfortable place to sleep.

Pros: Staff was friendly; room was spacious; common areas were nice; breakfast was much better than expected.
Cons: First room reeked of smoke; replacement room had loose bathroom floor tile, a toilet seat that moved, and a refrigerator that ran so loudly we had to unplug it. Also, a dog barked loudly in a nearby room.
Caveat: Animals are permitted in all rooms, i.e., no areas are restricted. The possibility that our room could have cat hair that would trigger asthma/allergies means that we will avoid this property in the future.

Comfortable, but worn. Friendly staff. Not likely to return. Property needs some help. We were on the top floor where we found evidence of a leaky roof. This is an older style Residence Inn as evidenced by the room layout. The room was large and comfortable, but the bathroom vanity was exposed to the sleeping area rather than separated by a door. Food was fair.

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society and our Texas Regional Conference was held in Abilene the weekend of March 5th till the 8th. Our chapter Alpha Alpha Xi, from Dallas, was a group of 17 college students and an advisor, as well as other chapters visiting from other colleges.

Our weekend stay at the Residence Inn here was incomparable to any experience I've ever had. As someone who has spent her life traveling with an active duty husband in the Army, I know from years of experience what makes a great place to stay.

Let's start with the friendliest, most accommodating staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They were all like family by the time our trip came to an end, and it was a heartbreaking goodbye as we drove away in their complimentary shuttle to the airport.

To Miss Kerri, you took such good care of us, and always went above and beyond to make sure we each had everything we might need at anytime. You were just so caring and I truly enjoyed our interactions with you!

To Miss Anita, you were always the brightest part of our mornings! Your joyful and warm personality was infectious to our group each and every morning. We will treasure the pictures we took with you always!

Now as for the Residence Inn itself, all I can say is BRAVO! This is by far the strongest, and possibly the longest and most in depth review I have ever written on any social media site.

The location was beautiful, well kept, well staffed, and had amazing amenities that we did not even expect! It was nice having such a thoughtful and unique breakfast spread to choose from every day, especially as it met many of the individual needs of our very diverse group of students who had particular food requirements. The lobby, where our group spent a majority of it's time on our first and last day, due to our own travel complications, was large enough to comfortably allow us to relax for hours while waiting, as well as get our homework done with all the accommodating tables, chairs, couches, and endless outlets!

Honestly, I could just go on singing their praises. This IS the location to stay at! We all agreed they deserve to be 5 star, just like our chapter Alpha Alpa Xi!!!

Large suite and well appointed. Very comfortable bed. The included breakfast way better than most freebies. The location was a very short distance from various restaurants and gas stations. Also a walkable distance.

Oh mo. This should already be repaired by now. I'm sure it will take a week or so to properly clean or replace the affected areas. Every inch of this hotel was spotless so I would expect they are going to make sure it's done right. I wouldn't be afraid to keep your reservation to stay here. They have plenty of room and will take every measure needed to ensure your stay is a good one.
