There are few places to stay in Aaronsburg PA but the proprietors of Country Vacation Cottages don't treat your travel dollar as though they are the only game in town. From the road, the cottages look like simple buildings from 75 years ago, and a couple of the buildings could use a coat of paint which will probably happen after...

Thank you for taking the time to post a kind review. I wanted to let you know that I contacted Verizon about the wi-fi speed you reported. They have determined that the router needs replaced and I should have the new one tomorrow. Thanks again!

I'm originally from the area and returned to spend the night during our tour of the local wine trail. We decided on staying here and stayed in cottage 5 which is actually a house that can sleep up to ten people in separate rooms. Upon entering, we were amazed of how clean it was and noted that it was cleaner...

We stayed a weekend for a Penn State football game in cabin, actually a house. It was perfect for separation of family members who snore. Kitchen nicely appointed and living room comfortable with large flat screen tv. Beds were comfortable and plenty of blankets. Windows do not open, but road noise kept to minimum by Windows. Nice to be out...

Thank you very much for your positive remarks! For those reading this review, Cottage #5 is a 4-bedroom/1 bath ranch-style cottage which accomodates up to 10 guests. We are glad you mentioned the windows, as they do open but your comment highlights the need for us to provide guest instructions for doing so. We are glad you liked our accomodations!

We have stayed at Schafers Cottages for several years now, always stay in cottage #2. It has two queen size beds, full kitchen and private bath. The cottage is neat and clean. Perfect for a great getaway place! We have morning coffee under a big tree in the yard with hills as a backdrop . There are so many things...

The Schafers have all the right amenities stocked at their cottages, and they are very clean. I had a very relaxing enjoyable stay after a hard day of fishing Penn's creek. The Schafers are very nice and personable as well

We stayed one night in Cottage 3 and were given exactly what we were told. The bathroom was very clean with a nice standup shower. The kitchen was equipped with all the utensils needed and the A/C was just perfect! The bed was comfy, Cable TV was up to date and the front porch was relaxing as the sun set....

Great location, very cute cottages and gracious hospitality from the Schaeffer family. I would stay there again without hesitation. Very reasonably priced and more importantly, very comfortable beds!. I did not know how to rate it below because it is neither luxury nor budget. It is a home away from home. Thats how we felt anyway

My family has a cottage on Penn's Creek and I always wanted to stay at these cottages built in 1938. We arrived to find our name on the door with a key in it. The landlords, the Schafer's live in a house on the property and are very attentive without being intrusive. They offered us a tour of all of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since 1937, these five charming cottages have welcomed travelers to the historic village of Aaronsburg nestled in the scenic, mountains of central Pennsylvania. Our 5 fully modernized, non-smoking cottages are among the few surviving 'Family Cabins' that once flourished along highways throughout America. Our cottages are clean, casual and comfortable, providing all the modern comforts of home. They are not ultra-fancy like a B&B nor are they primitive like a cabin in the woods. (All 5 cottages were newly renovated in 2015) The Cottages are excellent for Family Reunions and small Retreats of up to 30 guests. Families & groups may rent all five cottages at once or one indidvidual cottage. Cottage #5 has a meeting room in the basement that seats 16 guests at (4) 8-foot tables comfortably. There is an extra fee for use of the meeting room. Special arrangements can be made for outdoor tents, extra tables & chairs, equipment, catering or other services for additional fees. The Schafer family is committed to providing you with Family-Friendly, comfortable accommodations and old-fashioned hospitality. We welcome children in our cheerfully but simply decorated cottages. All Cottages include the following Amenities: Towels & Bed Linens, Clock Radio, Soap/Shampoo Microwave, Toaster, Coffeemaker & Coffee Basic Dishes, Pans, & Utensils Complimentary Coffee and Condiments Guest-controlled Heat and A/C Cable TV & DVD Player FREE Wireless Internet Access (call for details) FREE passes to nearby Heated, Outdoor Public Swimming Pool (seasonal) Guest Recreation Guide, which includes driving directions to all local recreation, attractions and restaurants as well as information about the Amish.
