On our way to our island resort we had to spend a night in Male, due to the late arrival of our plane. After some research we opted for the Candies Hotel, knowing it would not be a top rated hotel, but expecting a decent hotel for the price ($100.00 per room) we paid. In addition it is Lonely Planet's...

After realising late in the day (our fault) that there were no seaplane transfers to our island from Male after 1700hrs, we were forced to try and find somewhere to stay overnight on the island of Male itself. Must admit I was quite pleased with myself when I found a hotel close to the slowboat jetty (main transport between the...

In need of a room for just one night i find myself at Candies, by a complicated preamble of circumstances. As advertised, it has air con, free wi-fi in the rooms and a pool; three of my basic requirements. However, the air con is so cold that i'm having to go outside just to thaw myself out- i can't adjust...

This hotel was a disappointment. Its location is pretty good - just off the main road, and very close to the Jetty. Unfortunately, the rooms were a terrible let down. First off - they are pretty small - just a couple of feet around the double beds. The bed was very uncomfortable and the blanket they had was really old...
