We were in a club room, and the Horizon club was worth the money, providing club access to breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and background music that was very relaxing. The lounge area in the main reception was very grand and large as well. The hotel was very close to everything in KL, 10 minutes from the Petronas Towers and 10-15 minutes from Bukit Bintang.
However, the breakfast at the Lemon Garden (downstairs), was like a cafeteria, and the food was not being replenished very quickly. As this is a five star hotel, we were surprised that the main breakfast did not meet a similar standard to the Horizon Lounge. It was very busy as well.
On top of this, the pool and the spa looked like they hadn't been touched for years (probably since the 90s). The pool & spa needs a refurb. We thought we could smell mould in the jacuzzi area as there were no windows/little ventilation.

I loved this hotel. Great location beautiful rooms. Just wish they had outlets by the bed for charging. A gorgeous lobby, A state of the art gym, locker rooms with a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. A great pool with an adult only section. Pay the extra and get the Horizon club floor a choice of breakfast either at the club or the unbelievable Lemon Garden Cafe which has a buffet with everything from dim sum to sushi and in between! Tea time and canapes and cocktails! Oh the club also has an adult only section, wish they had adult only floors! Would highly recommend and return!

This is a great hotel with amazing location to explore the vibrant buzzing city of Kuala Lumpur.
Petronas Towers and KLCC Park, KL Tower , Independence Square, Petaling Street , Bukit Bintang, Kampang Baru & Chowkit are all easily walkable (or 5 mins in a cheap Grab taxi) from here. The Sky train is 200m away and can whisk you to KL Sentral Station (in Brickfields) in 10 mins.
The hotel has all amenities including a superb gym. The relaxed, spacious air conditioned interior is very welcoming when you step in from the heat and hustle of the city. Rooms are kept immaculate.
Loved staying here and would do so again,

We are a returning customer for more than 10 years and each stay has been pleasant and makes us want to keep coming back. The giant floral arrangement at the lobby is always a stunner and we look forward to seeing the different arrangements when do come back.
Location is awesome as it is walking distance or a short car ride to the tourist attractions, and shopping malls.
Rooms are spacious and clean. Room amenities include coffee/tea making facilities, bottled water replenish daily, toiletries, iron & ironing board, umbrella (which is useful for Malaysian weather), bathroom, bedroom slippers & in-room safe.
Buffet breakfast is one of the best with at least 5 main cuisines to choose from - Malay, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese. Teh Tarik is also available in addition to coffee/tea.
If there's anything to improve, I would like to suggest a better way to indicate a table is taken when at Lemon Garden. If you're at a table for one and you step away to take food from the buffet line, there's a tendency for someone else to take your table (happened to me recently).
Another thing I would like to suggest is to have an Instagram account for Flower of the Week (or Month or however frequently the arrangement is changed) so guests like me can follow and appreciate the different arrangements.

I visited for my sister's 30th Birthday in November 2024.
What a lovely old school style hotel - if legacy style and outstanding customer service is your thing, then I would absolutely recommend this hotel in KL. In previous years and visits, we have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental (still the best hotel in KL, in my opinion!) or the Hilton. But it was a joy to stay in the Shangri-La. It has the same traditional style and charm as the MO, but perhaps at a more cost-effective price and slightly more relaxed atmosphere.
It is in an excellent location, just a 10min walk from KLCC. And you're easily connected to the rest of the city from here. Being brits - we walked everywhere, including to Bukit Bintang a couple of times. And it was all very easy and manageable - even in the heat!
As you would expect for Kuala Lumpur - the hospitality at the hotel is second to none. The staff are all wonderful, friendly and more than happy to go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. As it was my sister's birthday, we had plenty of treats thrown in - cake & balloons in the room, chocolates and a fresh rose on check-in. It really made our stay extra special.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and have lots of little luxury touches. We found the hotel quiet during the night with no disturbances, which is always a treat when you're away from home!
We stayed on a B&B package, which was great. The food was plentiful, fresh and the whole buffet area was kept clean and tidy - exactly as you would expect for a hotel of this standard. Plenty of traditional food mixed in with more 'western' options - choice for everyone! As this hotel is clearly used in the week more for business, the buffet never seemed hugely busy - obviously this is different at peak times and weekends, but it never seemed "too busy".
If you're hoping for some time by the pool to catch some sun, be aware that it is a fairly shaded pool. The adults only area (LOVELY!) is probably the area by the pool that is in the sun the most for much of the day, for any sun worshippers like myself! It is a really beautiful pool area - one of the nicest I have seen, design wise. and you can just peek the Petronas Towers from certain angles. The pool was a little chilly - but the weather had been fairly inconsistent leading up to our stay, so perhaps hadn't had it's usual hours to sit in the sun.
I really can't think of anything negative or any cons! Happy to add the Shangri-La to my list of recommended hotels in KL.
Overall - beautiful, lovely hotel with fantastic staff. We were exceptionally well looked after.
I will add a small disclaimer to my review: KL is one of my favourite cities in the world and holds a very special place in my heart so my compliments are obviously plumped up by this sentiment too!

Our stay at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur was excellent, with just some really minor failings. We were warmly greeted at the airport by the property’s lovely porter, who assisted with our luggage and were then safely driven to the hotel. The check in was quick and easy, just not the friendliest: being Shangri-La Circle Jade members staying in a suite, with entitlement to dedicated check-in counter (which was not provide), we were expecting a somehow more personalized welcome service. Our suite was however stunning, extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean, with an exceptional view over the KL tower. Several complimentary bottles of water were available, as well as free minibar and a nice plate of fresh fruit, courtesy of the hotel manager. Full set of amenities (replaced daily) in the huge marble bathroom, plush towels and a comfortable bed, although the mattress was on the firmer side, with just a thin topper provided. During our 5 days stay, we enjoyed breakfast at the Horizon lounge, which was nothing less than excellent, with several Asian and western options. We also had afternoon tea and evening cocktails at the lounge and were quite happy with both. Staff at the lounge was also incredibly nice and welcoming. We didn’t tested breakfast at Lemon Garden but it seemed quite crowdy and chaotic…if it fits within your budget, choose a room with Lounge access and you won’t regret it!! Swimming pool is medium sized but enjoyable although kids are allowed, therefore not the quietest. However there’s a separate lounging adult area with sunbeds, which we appreciated. As regards dining, we had a quick dinner at Arthur’s bar: nothing fancy but food was good and service attentive. We also had buffet dinner at Lemon Garden and loved the extensive selection of dishes. We didn’t like the overall atmosphere, too many people, too many kids and a rough service. But probably as a child-free couple, this was not the right choice for us. To conclude, we are happy with our stay at this property and recommend it with no hesitation. Would come back for sure!

Top location, close to the Petronas Towers, a metro station... we stayed in a spacious suite and were able to enjoy the club lounge!!! The lounge allows you to have peace and quiet to enjoy breakfast, tea time, and an aperitif!!! There are no crowds, it is a very respectful private club where there is no hustle and bustle of people around the different dishes on offer. Excellent 🤩 Good value for money

Excellent, established hotel in KLCC. A huge open and ornate lobby and of course attentive and hospitable staff made for a welcome start to our Malaysia trip.
We booked a family room which was more like a suite, consisting of kitchen and dining facilities, a lounge with a teepee for the kids to sleep. A fantastic view of the KL skyline from 21st floor, which is equally stunning at night.
We used the swimming pool on the 2nd floor, which is small, but not unsurprising given the constrained central location, but perfect to cool off after any tiring excursions.
Faultless breakfast provision, with everything you could wish for available.
We found this to be a great location to access the main sites. The Bukit Nanas Monorail station is a short walk away to get you to the main attractions. When in KL, Petronas towers (walkable from hotel) visit is a must and a trip to Batu Caves is also worth your time.
We would book again if we return to KL.

My husband and I were planning to spend three nights in Kuala Lumpur, so we wanted to stay at not only a nice hotel but one that felt centrally located within a city we never explored before. After much browsing, it turned out that the five-star Shangri-La fit our requirements quite well. We weren't aware it was part of an international hospitality chain until we arrived.
This primarily became apparent in the crisp manner they displayed in enrolling us in the Shangri-La Circle program, which allows us easier access to booking their other hotels. We booked an Executive Room with a King Bed for three nights at US$163 per night. It was a reasonably spacious room though admittedly the furnishings felt somewhat dated. The same could be said about the hotel as a whole.
The lobby was well spaced and nicely appointed though there was the air of a mid-century shopping center mall about it. We did partake in libations in the Lobby Lounge and must admit service was rather inattentive. On the upside, the room was comfortable, and the location worked out well for us as the Petronas Towers, KL Park, Bukit Bintang, and Jalan Alor were all within walking distance of the hotel.

The hotel is nice, very hospitable, which is characteristic of this chain, the lush furnishings of the lobby, the uniform of the service staff, of which there are many - all to impress you upon arrival, however - have their shortcomings, as well as everywhere: * very old room stock, which is soaked in mold everything, including furniture. It is made of wood, but its life is also limited, it has clearly expired, but the hotel sees no need to change it. The room did not like at all, it seems and corresponds to the photo, but the smell of the old dwelling, old carpet, strange layout - did not please. Trying to change numbers - it turns out it's pretty much the same everywhere. There are no dense curtains, there are curtains made of thin material sewn in the last century that will do nothing to help you hide the broadcasting lights of the big city around the clock. Kids tent - seriously, does the hotel suggest putting the kids to sleep on the floor? Well, if only for one day, as a change... but blowing on the legs, certainly not in the tent. * Breakfast is incredibly crowded, you have to be prepared for it. There's no hot oatmeal, the salmon don't taste good, but in general you can find something to eat. * kindergarten with pond - very small, nowhere to walk, so do not count on the territory. The upside is definitely there. It is a helpful service, smiling staff, especially cleaners and baggage handlers. Location. But coming back to this hotel for that kind of money, I don't think it's morally obsolete and exploitative.

Hi gtiu05,
Thank you for reaching out and considering Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur for your stay!
We are pleased to inform you that our suite rooms can accommodate an additional rollaway bed. That said, for a family of five (three adults and two young children), we’d recommend booking two rooms for extra space and comfort.
Our Premier Selection Room is an excellent choice for a family of two adults and two children, offering a comfortable and spacious option. For a family of five, we recommend booking two rooms, with the option of a connecting room (subject to availability) to keep everyone close.
We would also like to clarify that we do have rooms with a twin-bed configuration available.
We look forward to welcome you and your family soon.
Hi
Thank you for your question but we did not have a need for the Tent.
But sent your request to the Hotel direct and I’m sure they will give you an answer straight away.
We have used the Hotel and stayed in the Horizon Suite Three times and are due back again in October.
I have nothing but great things to say about it and received Outstanding Guest Service.
Its depends on time n traffic situations but i can tell that taking grab from hotel is best since you will get best price to reach destination.Download Grab app n use it
