Shin-Osaka advertises itself as a youth hostel, yet is anything but. It has a lot of things going for it - it's in an excellent location, just a brief walk from Shin-Osaka train station. It's high up in a tower, commanding a great view and it is IMPECCABLY clean. None of these benefits compensate for the hostel's huge, appalling flaw,... More

I'm not a great fan of hostels, but this place stands out from the pack. Located in a new high-rise just a few mins from Shin-Osaka station (NOT Osaka station-- that's a different station, don't make the same mistake I did when I was tired and in a daze!), it's a great option for those on a budget, or big... We stayed only one night at Shin-Osaka Youth hostel but we were very happy with this choice. The hostel is conveniently located closed to the station and we found good restaurants just around. The staff is more than friendly and we even enjoyed a very funny Halloween party. But what we will remember more is the public bath. It's really... More

I spent one night at this hostel when I missed the last Shinkansen back to Tokyo one evening. I expected your average hostel — old building, old bedding, in a bad neighbourhood. But the place is nothing like that. All I can say is: wow! This place is so high quality, it hardly counts as a hostel. Ryokan at 3x... More

ShinOsaka Youth Hostel is a conveniently placed, clean and comfortable hostel. The train station is less than 5 minutes away on foot and there are at least three convenience stores in the surrounding area. An international ATM can be found at both the nearby Seven Eleven and the ShinOsaka train station Post Office. The staff are polite and helpful but... More

Our family stay in Japanees style room with private bath room. The room are large enough. The kid enjoy sleeping on the futon and tatami mat. However, you have to fold and keep them in the closet everyday. The room upon check in is claen, however we stay for 4 night and on the weekend night, they are not even... More

The Shin-Osaka Youth Hostel was one of the highlights of our Japan trip; taking 21 students to a forign country is daunting and it meant that we needed to be near to everythign amnd staying someplace clean and comfortable - this was both! With 4 bunks to a room (singles also available) and a generous tatami area with 2 futons,... More
