We enjoyed our three nights in Taiyo. You can only expect so much according to the price. For that is was perfect. Cosy little Tatami rooms with aircon, fridge and window and storage nooks. Plenty of space in the hotel, also in the common areas and kitchen. Plenty of shared toilets and even an own Onsen. Even though it's right at the street, it's quiet at night. Located in a rather rough but real and charming area of Osaka right next to a metro station. Perfectly located for southern exploration of Kansai and the airport. Many nice individual touches, lots of shopping and restaurants around in a happening area.

We stayed at Hotel Taiyo, I do see a lot of people posting positive reviews for Hotel Toyo here, that is a diffrent hotel and definitely not this one. The hotel is outdated, run down and in desperate need of renovation. The tile are old, worn and look like they have never been properly cleaned or waxed. The furniture is shabby and uncomfortable the bed springs where so prominent it left my hips and ankles aching. Our first night we went out and bought ourselves pillows as the ones here are unusable. There was also only one plug in the room so we had to spend even more for a power bar. The whole place was filthy with dirt and dust visible in every corner. The towels were dirty, and the bathroom was again unclean and permanently smelled of piss our whole stay. The amount of dust in the vents were slightly alarming from a safety standpoint. We also had major issues with internet 90% of the time. If you need internet for work you are SOL. The staff was professional and friendly, and the overall customer service was the only redeeming quality The location was great close the the main line station and the JR line. Overall, the hotel fell way below expectations and was a terrible experience that I would not recommend to anyone

If you plan to stay at one place more than 5days with a low budget I suggest you stya here. You will get Japanese style room.Have a warmer and rack for your cloth. This place using a share bathroom, every floor have their bathroom but you may use any availble bathroom. But it still clean. You can cooked at the pantry near to the reception area. This hotel is center for Dobutsuen Mae Station & Shin Imamiya Station. End lot from the building you may see Family Mart. If you like to cooked, you can walk to the cheap market. It really cheap. Just ask for the Map area. I love this place. Worth my money for the backpacker.

The entire hotel is worn Down. We did not feel comfortable or safe there. The non smoking room we booked smelled terrible, as if there had been smoked in there. The room was dirty and filled with dust, hair and even spider web. The japanese style bed was as expected, but the pillow was weird and filled with small plastic beads. We ended up moving to another hotel after one of the three nights we had booked and paid for. The system with leaving the Keys in the reception when going out seemed unsafe as the receptionist gave you the key to the room number you Said without even looking up. All in all I Would recommend to book one of the other budget friendly hotels in the area.

If you are looking for a cheap hotel to stay-in and doesn't mind the shared bathroom and shower room, I will recommend this place. This is one of the cheap hotels around Shin-Imamiya Station. It is also a minute walk to subway train - Dobutsuenmae Station and 6-mins walk to JR Station (Shin Imamiya Station). The staff are friendly and know how to speak English well. The room is big enough for 1-person. The pillow is kinda small though but the comforter is okay. All floors have toilet but shower rooms are only in the ground floor and 2nd floor. Shower rooms are okay but some toilets are smelly; probably because not all guests are cleaning it after using. This is my 2nd time booking this place. :)

The location is strategic as only 150m to subway and 400m to JR train (shin-imamiya station). It is easy for you to go anywhere. The room is simple and clean but the WiFi connection is not strong inside the room, always disconnected, I think internet service need to improve. Price is cheap and affordable so you can not expect other services like staying in 4 or 5 star hotel. Recommend if you looking for affordable price.

Somebody prior is commenting that the Hotel was "Very dirty" but in my case (May 21-24, 2018), the stay was GREAT, in the sense of the room assigned to me having proved to be clean & well furnished (air-con, fridge, firm bed which would not cause any backache the following day, TV, towels and other amenities...) all FAR more than expected from the overnight fee of justTHB 390.44 = USD 13.5 (booked via agoda). I also checked-in very late just before midnight, but things were just FINE. Fellow guests staying in the Hotel looked very reasonable & satisfied w/the Hotel's status quo - I've seen a few Caucasian guys/ladies who are headed for the shower rooms available 24/7 free w/shampoo&conditioner furnished free of charge, and I myself found them to be maintained hygiene; An Asian (Malaysian or Indonesian? because she was wearing a head scarf) couple w/whom I chatted in the elevator also commented that "they had a great stay in the Hotel'. My original plan was staying in this Hotel only 2 nights out of 3 nights-holiday in Osaka, but I extended the stay because everything was so impressively good at Hotel Taiyo.

Me and my partner wanted to stay here for 5 nights. We check in late, and i wanted to get a shower. I started to cry because how dirty the bath and room was, my bed had some blood on it and some water (origin unknow)on the floor made my luggage and my clothes wet. We could reclam and get a better room(japanese to normal). So it was a bit better to slep, but we had to go to the spa world to have a bath or/and we buy some plasticbags to put on the floor and desinfected everything(with some hand desinfecter we already had). Spa world is very recommended. We search for another hotel but unfortantly was nothing avaiblable(high season, low bugdet). On the last day we sleept at Capsule sauna Spadio hotel, recommended (clean,ok bath, and ok capsel). On my three weeks stay in Japan this was definitivly my worst hotel. I would also say the worst hotel ever, and i was in cheapers hotel in many other contries. Our first hotel in tokio was cheaper so as well the last one, and it was much better! Also hotel nearb like sunplaza was cheaper and had better recomendation. So please book as soon as you can, to find a better place, we just booked one moth before traveling so the best hotels were almost gone. The pillow was made of some plastic rolls.

Strategically located near 2 stations, Dobutsuen-Mae and Shin-Imamiya. Clean shared shower rooms at 1st to 3rd floors. Hair dryer on 1st floor shower. Vending machines and hot water available inside the hotel. Has get-together events for guests. Small LCD TV. Only single power outlet under the table in the room. Room heater not warm enough. Odd place to hang clothes around the fridge.

If you have minimum budget, I recommand this hotel. The room’s quite good, but smells weird. You can choose the type of room. If you choose room with toilet, yep just toilet for poo or pee. The shower room is for sharing outside your room. You can easyly find this hotel. It is located near Dobutsu mae subway station and JR Shin Imamiya station P.s the room smells like “Dedek Ayam”
