The hotel was in a bad location hidden away on a back street blocked by a flyover. It's pretty hard to find the hotel the first time (To find the hotel, take the metro to Minami Morimachi (K13 on the Sakaisuji line), take Exit 1 at the end of the platform, and take the second right under the flyover, the hotel is about 200 metres down the road).

The rooms are fairly average and seemed to be marketed towards business travelers. The room was small, but had a bath, kettle, TV and WiFi in the rooms. It wasn't possible to sleep with the window open because of the noise from the flyover, but there is air conditioning in the room if needed.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby. There is a large supermarket and then an extremely long Japanese-styled covered pedestrian street crowded with restaurants and other shops.

The staff were a mixed-bag. I found them unfriendly and at one point they wouldn't give us the key to our room after we came back to the hotel to charge the camera, because they said they were cleaning the rooms. Unlike the other hotels we stayed in in Japan, the staff here didn't seem happy and the hotel had a rather sad and run down atmosphere.

The breakfast was excellent although very crowded between 7am-8am. They had a variety of Japanese food which was tasty and one of the only highlights of the hotel. There was also free water, a microwave and computers for use in the lobby. Also, a nice addition was a launderette available which was cheap and easy to use.

I probably wouldn't use this hotel again, the location wasn't too great for getting to Shin-Osaka station for the Skinkansen trains. But mainly, I found the hotel quite depressing and really didn't like the time spent there.

The stay was very good in terms of services by the staff or the room condition. Size of the room was just nice for us, clean and cozy with heater during cold nights. Bed was comfy after long walks, and room was well equipped. They do have all the toiletries provided and ladies will get a pack of goodies too! Request for check-in and out is smooth and fast, and we can keep our baggage there after check-out for free.

Breakfast is included in the lobby. Not much variety but it was simple and tasty. You may also get your drinking water filled up instead of buying bottled water. Excellent money saving during travel.

Although hotel is near to subway, it was not as convenient compare to hubs like Namba or Shinsaibashi. And the JR near the hotel did not go directly to anywhere connected to the loop line. The subway nearest to the hotel is subway Minamimorimachi (exit 1). There is a Lawson (convenient store-24h), Mos Burger (closes at 10pm) and Kohyo Supermarket near by in case you need food at night hours.

Booked this hotel through the Toyoko Inn booking engine, waiting the mandatory 2 months before foreigners are allowed to book. It looked like one of the Osaka hotels that were closest to the main city. I travelled with my sister and had quite a big suitcase, and transferring from the Osaka Train station to the Umeda Higashi subway was a pain (no elevators). Ended up in the right subway station (Minamorimachi). But took a wrong turn and ended up wandering the back streets of Osaka for an hour in 30 plus degree weather as a lot of the locals couldn't speak english. SO be warned it's slightly hard to find. But once you do it's great. It is actually also accessible via Temma JR train station which I didn't realise until after.

It is run by women, and is a business hotel, therefore be prepared for late check in/early check out. However, all the staff speak english. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel. We were given towels every day, a dressing gown, slippers, free internet access in the lobby and also in the room (LAN cable). There is an ice dispensing machine in the lobby and a water unit. There is also free Japanese breakfast for all guests from 7am to 9.30am. So make the most of it. There is free green tea in each room, and all guests are given a little gift pack. I think the businessmen got a lot more, but I think it's because they are men and they spoke Japanese! They clean the rooms everyday so make sure you have everything locked up (just in case). The train station is close to everywhere (a couple of stops to Minami and a couple of stops to Umeda) so you are always within short distance to the main tourist areas. If you are looking for somewhere incredibly cheap then choose this place, but if you are looking for something incredibly central then probably look elsewhere.

I think it's a great hotel chain and if I go back to Japan and get the chance to book I would definitely do it again.

We spent the second week of our trip here in Osaka, we wanted a base to explore other places after Tokyo. This hotel is easy for getting to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Himeji, Nara etc. For the price I think this hotel was great, the rooms are small - but everything fits as long as you put your cases under the bed. We really enjoyed the breakfast which was very Japanese. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of this hotel and it is near the JR station.

I usually stay at another hotel, however during November my usual hotel was booked out. I found this place instead. It's a little of the beaten track but if you don't mind walking can be accessed from Umeda station in around 10 minutes by foot.

I was surprised at how spacious the room was compared to other hotels. I booked a single room but my bed was a double to queen size with plenty of space around the room. You can store you luggage under the bed giving you even more room should you need it. For a Japanese hotel the bathroom was very spacious and fitted out with everything you need to groom and clean yourself. Wifi is available in the room which is pretty much standard these days.

The hotel is right near a busy multilevel freeway which some may find noisy depending what side your room is on. I live right next to a freeway normally and I didn't find the noise any where near as loud, the windows are fairly well sound proofed and it didn't disrupt my sleep.

I deduct one point for the breakfast which I found a little disappointing. It was only onigiri (rice balls) and salad. I was expecting something a little more substantial. It is free however and does sound like I'm nit picking however a discussion with my friend revealed other hotels within the same chain do offer more.

There is a convenience store a couple of minutes walk nearby should you need extra food which can be stored in the small refrigerator in the room. I do recommend a walk down nearby Tenjinbashi Suji shopping street for an evening meal if you are looking for a place to eat. The Minamimorimachi train station around 5 minutes walk away with get you to Nihhonbashi or other connecting routes.

I would definitely consider staying here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July. The hotel was easy to find (very near Minamimorimachi subway station). The hotel staff were helpful, friendly and spoke very good English - they were especially great when we needed to send luggage to our next hotel in Kyoto.

The room was small but not by Japanese standards. All of our luggage fit, albeit with a squeeze. Bedroom and bathroom were fit for purpose and kept clean.

Facilities were perfectly fine, including free breakfast (Japanese breakfast, mainly rice)

Perfect place for budget travellers to explore Osaka, very close to Osaka Station City and a few subway stops from Dotonbori!

I was worried about booking this hotel, my boyfriend had convinced me it was a good choice as he’d stayed with this chain before. However I shouldn’t have been worried, it was a great hotel for what we needed. There’s no point when you are just using the hotel to sleep and get ready paying more, yes the room was a little small even though we had paid for the deluxe room and there wasn’t space to really unpack but apart from that I couldn’t fault the hotel. And even the lack of space was fine as everything else made up for it and if I ever go back to Osaka I’d certainly stay here again. The room was very clean, all hotels in Japan seem to provide all the necessary toiletries so I really shouldn’t have bothered bringing any with me, it had more than just your shower gel and shampoo, there were free toiletries provided in the lobby as well. The breakfast was good although Japanese style and we only saw egg one morning out of the five we were there, it was a nice little extra and we enjoyed going down each day to see what we could eat. We are both vegetarian and there was always something we could have, it was really busy on Sunday and Monday so we should have gone down earlier on those days. The location was great, yes it is in a quiet spot but it was ideally located for going into Umeda or Namba and we easily managed to get the subway to the places we wanted to visit. It seemed a good option because it was between key places, we also liked the quietness of the area and thought out of the other Toyoko Inns we spotted we had picked a good choice in the end. It was less than a 5 minute walk from the local subway stop and near a 7/11 which was ideal for picking up stuff to store in the fridge in the room. I really loved this hotel despite my reservations beforehand. You do pay extra to get your room cleaned but it wasn’t necessary if you aren’t there long and even if you don’t have your room cleaned they always leave clean towels on your door which was the only reason I’d added for our room to be serviced twice whilst we were there as I hadn’t realised we would have our towels changed.
100% book this hotel if you are looking to visit Osaka.

I stayed with my wife at this Toyoko-inn for a night due to a last minute schedule change, we couldn't find a room for our usual Toyoko-inn at Nakatsu, Umeda.

The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk away from the Minamimorimachi Subway station of the Tanimachi Subway line, which is a station away from Umeda/Osaka Station, and less than 15 minutes away from Tennoji station. The location is not so busy compared to Umeda, however, still very convenient.

There is a 24-hour Aeon Kohyo supermarket nearby. The front of the hotel is facing an elevated highway, however, all double rooms are facing back. Do take note of the noise if you are booking a single room.

Overall, it is a nice choice if you want to stay near to Umeda.

Average (small) business hotel room. We were on an overnight trip with a base elsewhere and had little luggage so room was allright for our purpose. Had we had our suitcases with us we would have had trouble with space. No use to arrive early - you get your room no earlier than stated on your booking. If you have to kill time they have a PC with free internet in the lobby.

I travel to Osaka quite a bit and stayed in a number of hotels, I've come to like the toyoko-inn chain of hotels. They are all over Japan and have a number of hotels in the Osaka area. The room and service are standard from hotel to hotel. There is a complementary breakfast buffet, nothing fancy, mainly starches. They offer free wireless internet and a cable if you need to hard wire.

The room is a typical business hotel, but 2 people can maneuver in it. There is storage space for your bag undetneath the bed. There is a mini refrigerator and a safe in the room. The bathroom has an american style toilet.

I book online and am a member of their loyalty club. This helps cut doen on the cost. They also have special campaigns to help lower the cost also. For 4 nights, single room, I paid 212.00usd (53/nt) Please be prepared to pay when you check in.

The reason why I chose this hotel on this trip was the one I usually stay at was full. Looking at the property, I discovered it is near to one of my favorite shopping areas. One thing about Toyoko-inns, at least in the osaka area, you need to research where the hotel is. They are not in the popular areas. They are on the fringe of these areas. They do provide maps and directions on their site and if you follow them, you shouldnt have a propblem. I would be comfortable with any hotel that is 3 minutes from the train/subway station. Also another tip is google Earth did a good job in mapping out at least the osaka area so you can get a street view of the different properties.

So I did the above ahead of time. And the directions were accurate. They are near the Tanimachi and sakaisuji subway lines at the minami morimachi subway station.

One of the cool things is its about 3 blocks from one of the longest covered shopping arcades in Japan. I like this arcade because it is moreblue collar and not trendy like the stores in the Namba/Shinsaibashi area.

Again, for the money I think this hotel is a good bargain. It is one of the top to hotels to stay when in osaka!
