My spouse and I stayed here for 3 nights. I was lucky ot get 3 straight nights in this hotel considering that their weekends are all fully booked.

We arrived at Kansai Intl airport from Manila at around 7:30pm and took the Nankai Express train to Nanba station. We paid 890 yen each for that trip and it was a smooth trip. Reached Nanba station and took another train to Shinsaibashi via the Midosuji line for 200 yen each (one station away), got out at gate 4a, and then walked right from the gate to the street passing by Fendi, MiuMiu stores. The map at their website is easy to follow and in less than leisure walk of 10 minutes, we found Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi in a clean and nice area.

It was late at night when we arrived, but the hotel is on a 24/7 front desk, and English speaking too! It's good to book online (I booked straight from their website) and just be sure that you are booking their Shinsaibashi hotel. We got our door pass-keys in 2 minutes and got to our room in a jiffy.

The room was clean with fresh towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, sponges, razors, slippers, and smells fresh and airy. It might be tiny for US or European standards, but for us, it was perfect! The bed was excellent and the pillows are Tempur, I can't have enough praises for it. The bathroom is small but spotlessly clean with a small tub, we love it!

We were hungry and looked for a place to eat and walked to a nearby am/pm convenience store. We bought some yummy bento boxes and I swear, the food is good!

The next following days were perfect. This hotel is simply very very very near everything! Very near the very long Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street. Very near Donburi too. We love love love it!

Laundry is avaialble for a small fee. Cups and ice is available 24/7. The hotel is very clean, very nice. The staff are very nice too.

Simple buffet breakfast is included, not outstanding, but not bad too. At least you don't have to worry about getting breakfast. And it's buffet.

We would definitely stay here again. Definitely. We rate this hotel a perfect 10!

if you're looking for luxury, look elsewhere.
This hotel isnt prominent, but once you locate it, you'll find it's a gem. The location is superb. Cant rem the exit number (think 9 or 10) from shinsaibashi train station. a mere 3 min walk.
Hotel sits on shinsaibashi shopping street where food is readily available. there is also a 100yen shop on the street. (Daikoku). It is also a 10 mins walk to Dotomburi.

Room: small (expected of japanese hotels) but enough for 2. Clean and good room service.
Would stay here again. most definitely.
oh, there's Free daily breakfast too.

We traveled to Osaka, Japan last September 4 - 8, 2016. We initially had a difficult time locating the hotel. We arrived at the Shinsaibashi station at around 9 in the evening and were getting lost in the streets of Shinsaibashi. We asked a girl for directions and she was kind enough to search for the hotel in her smartphone and walked with us until we reached the hotel (it was around 3 or 4 blocks away across the street). Japanese people are very kind (the same thing happened to us in Nagoya). To locate the Hotel, from KIX ride the Nankai line going to Namba station. At Namba Station, transfer to the Midosuji Line to go to Shinsaibashi Station. At Shinsaibshi station, you must exit at either Exit 9 or 11. I think you should walk one or two blocks more. You should be able to see shops like Fendi, Max Mara, Daimaru. The you should go inside the corner where you see Under Armour, Step, and Shinsaibashi Suji, and then turn right on the next corner. The third or fourth building in the right side is Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi.

The girl in the reception checked us in right away, no fuss. When we got into the room, we didn't know how to turn on the aircon. We used Google Translate App to help us translate the characters in the remote control. We got the aircon to work, and we're satisfied with the temperature in the room. The room size is just enough for the two of us. The bed is soft and firm, with warm comforters, and 4 memory foam pillows. The foot and leg massager is a bonus. There's hot shower, good set of toiletries, bath and face towels, a pair of pajama-like robes/dresses, slippers, toothbrush, comb, razors, bath sponges, etc. The water heater is available which we used to cooked instant noodles.

Breakfast buffet is served daily from 7:00 - 9:30am. There's a lot of food. I think it's a Japanese breakfast - meat balls, salmon and trout, soy, salad with three dressings, scrambled egg, rice, porridge, miso soup, mixed vegetables, etc. And then there's milk, coffee, orange juice, oolong tea and water. There's a variety of bread with margarine and strawberry jam. The food choices are pretty much good to give us energy for a long day of travelling.

When we checked in on our last day at 11am, they allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel lobby. We shopped a bit more along Shinsaibashi - there a so many shops in the street adjacent to the hotel, which is so very convenient. Namba is also just a station away, where you will find the popular tax-free shop Don Quijote. After shopping, we've got another bag to carry along with the rest of our luggage. Being able to leave our bags at the hotel lobby allowed us to enjoy the Shinsaibashi area a little bit more before we leave for the airport.

Going to the airport, the Shinsaibashi station will lead you to Namba station where you can take the Nankai line going to Kansai International Airport.

We really had a good time at Osaka. Overall, the Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi has a good location, which made going all over Kansai very convenient.

The best rate is on the Villa Fontaine website. If you create a log-in, you can cancel or modify your reservation as well. You can choose between standard rooms and rooms that come with either a foot massage machine or some sort of back massage chair. We opted for the foot massage room, which was surprisingly a nice, nightly respite from all the walking.

The hotel is located within 2 blocks off of the Shinsaibashi station. Unfortunately, if you are using a JR pass, you will have to get off at Osaka station and transfer to a local subway to get to this hotel. It is not much, but something to be aware of. When you come out of the right exit (I forget the exit number), you will see a Cartier. The map on the website says there is a Ferragamo across from the Cartier, but it is no longer there. Walk past Cartier and immediately turn right on the block Cartier is on. The hotel is one block on the right. It is a small blue building with glass doors. It is very, very convenient and safe. Coming back at any time at night was safe and easy. The location of the hotel is the main reason why I give it high points.

The room itself is tiny. Our hotel in Tokyo was surprisingly bigger and space was used more efficiently. Our room on the 7th floor had no view, it looked onto some sort of bleak parking lot next door. It was very dark in the room. The bed itself is sufficient for 2 people, though if either party is bigger than 6 feet, you will be uncomfortable. There is free LAN internet connection, they provide a LAN cable. There are no channels with English. The bathroom is one of those tiny, plastic bathrooms. It is sufficient and clean. The water pressure is good. If one had the bathroom door open, it would probably block the entire front door to the room. It is a tight squeeze. There is a fridge as well.

As mentioned in previous posts, the breakfast is adequate. It is crowded, but people are not lingering and you will get a seat. They always had hard boiled eggs, bread, salad, and various Japanese items like miso soup, natto, rice, fish. Coffee was average and there is juice. Overall, no complaints for free breakfast in a big city.

If you walk out of the hotel, to the right a few doors down is a ramen place. It is very good and a very good deal for lunch. For about 900Y or so, you get ramen, a small bowl of beef with rice or some variation, and a frozen lychee! Very good, I highly recommend it. The nearby department store, Daimaru, has a decent depachika (department store food court) in the basement. It is not as flashy and sleek as the department stores in Tokyo, but it still has very delicious and affordable food offerings. You can get bento boxes for around 500Y and indulge in fancy French or Japanese pastries. I highly recommend checking out depachikas, it is the highlights of visiting a big city in Japan.

Overall, I was pleased with this hotel, despite the shortcomings in the room itself. It is expected in a city like this. It is still a very clean and pristine hotel. It is just a little bit older and starting to show its age. Otherwise, perfect for a budget traveler and I would recommend it.

The hotel is located in the middle of Shinsaibashi, definately perfect for shopper. Subway station just around the corner. You can even follow the shopping street all the way walk to Namba Train station to catch the bus to airport. Complimentary breafkast is simple japanese style but just good enough. Very happy with the honest staff as my friend left her iphone in lobby toilet and 4 hours later we came back and the staff just passed the iphone to us, GREAT !

雖然舊了點,不過整理的很乾淨。地點很好,就在商店街。服務人員也都有基本英語能力,不難溝通。如果要深入逛心齋橋附近又有預算限制,是個可以考慮的旅館。
In my opinion, It's worthy to stay in this hotel due to my budget limitation. With good service and great location although it may appeal a little old for some people.

I agree with all other reviewers -- this place is about (and maybe only about) location.

Location:
It's right on Shinsaibashi, the busiest covered shopping street at the heart of Osaka. The hotel is 3 minutes' walk from exit #1 (and 1 minute walk via the basement of a commercial building, if you know the short cut). You can walk to Doutonbori in about 10 minutes, 15 mins to Namba, 20 mins to Kuromon market. There's even a 24-hour supermarket called Foodium on Sakai Suji (about 5 blocks east and then 5 blocks south). The 4-storey 100-yen store Daiso is also a couple blocks north of the hotel. You can really shop and drop your goods in your rooms before heading out for more shopping or dinner or karaoke session. It's THAT convenient.

Room:
First off, you have to understand it's a business hotel at a rather frugal rate. It makes no sense to compare it with 5-star establishments. The rooms are small, tired and in need of a face lift. The wall paper is stained. There isn't a wardrobe in the room, but only hangers and a (rusty) rail. There aren't many sockets in the room, but the hotel is thoughtful enough to include a small power strip so that you can at least charge your phone while boiling water and blowing your hair. (Yes, there's a water kettle and a hair dryer in the drawer.) The mattress is nice, but the pillow so-so. The toilet and bath is pre-fabricated in one piece, so that it's the same size as those in Toyoko Inn or other business hotels (i.e. very small). I personally think Toyoko Inn hotel chain is better maintained, but probably also a tad less roomy. Not to mention their less convenient locations.

Breakfast:
The room rate includes breakfast with mostly Japanese fare -- a stew, boiled eggs, coleslaw, deep-fried chicken, croquette, meatballs, grilled fish (mackerel and salmon), miso soup, steamed rice, sandwich bread, milk, coffee, orange juice. Most food is cold, but still a good deal if you want to save a few hundred yens on breakfast. The breakfast is better than Toyoko Inn hands down.

Service:
We didn't experience any problem. Check in and check out were efficiently done. And in fact, a lady at the front desk helped us to switch to a smoking room late at night. She did speak good-enough English for the purpose.

Conclusion:
If you come to Osaka to take it easy and you need roomy space to unwind, this space is not for you. If you just want a bed and won't be in your room other than sleeping hours, you should seriously consider this place. If you're price-conscious and don't mind the less convenient locations, the Toyoko Inn chain may actually work better for you. I do think you get what you pay for at this price. I won't hesitate to give 4 stars and will stay here again.

It is a very old Hotel about 17yrs old but the location is superb for those who likes to go for shopping & eating outlets are surrounded too. Pls walk straight to the Namba station instead of
using the shinsaibashi station for the train to Kansai Airport if you have more than 2 pcs of luaggages. As from the namba station you can use the elevator straight to the rapid express station to the Kansai Airport. If not it will be headache on carrying the bags down & up using the staircase for Shinsaibashi Station.

Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi has 3 things: perfect shopping location, good spread of breakfast, and very nice free foot massages. I come with a family of four and staid in their standard room for two nights in early June, and the hotel impressed me with efficient check-in, abundance of towels and cloths, and an in-room foot massage machine! We are right at the door of shinsaibashi shopping district, and everything a shopper wants is right at our door steps, so the location is bar none. Breakfast is included, with a nice spread of western and japanese food, definitely heart warming, delicious, and fulfilling. I also like their water pressure and the shower/bath tub taps, very efficient and nicely equipped. I can't help but comment about their bathing soap and shampoos - very efficient and effective. If you like to jog like me, you can get out early mornings and run through shinsaibashi shopping district and go straight north to Nakanoshima Park (in 15mins), where you can run around the beautiful river banks and park decors. Or, if you like to venture a bit, you can even run north east to famous Osaka castle(in 30mins), which is even more fun if you do it in the morning, cuz there is definitely no crowds blocking your view. I appreciate the hotel's service including holding your luggage after you check-out, and lending out umbrellas for free (yes it did rain on our stay). I would recommend shoppers and gourmet lovers to stay here if they love Osaka and its many wonders to offer.

When I stayed in this hotel they were very unhelpful when it came to a late checkout, my flight was at 12 at night and they would not allow us to stay in the room 1 minute past 11am, the receptionist was banging on our door and phoning our room at 11am sharp although we had already told them at breakfast time our flight was at 12 that night. only way to avoid this is to book the room for another night which I would recommend doing just to have some peace on your last day.
