This guesthouse is quite effective, located near Ni-jo Palace and at walking distance to the centre. Bus stops in front of the hotel. Rooms with sufficient space. Staff is friendly and quite accomodating and helpful. Breakfast services provided.
Staff is very accommodating and personable. Breakfast has some really great bread varieties with tea and coffee. Juice would be a nice addition. Rooms are basic but a great value. They offer bicycle "rentals" for free and motor bikes for the equivalent of less than $30 a day. I'm old and out of shape, should have done motor. Limited number of each so get it early. Great value and Japanese experience.
This place was perfect for my stay. The room was cleanand spacious. Even though it was across from the tea and coffee area (free 24 hours a day) they would have these adorable signs to keep quiet because there was a baby sleeping. They provided a crib and there was still enough room for our belongings. Private bathroom was small but it's japan. Bed was comfy. Staff was super friendly and spoke pretty good English. They had brochures and information on pretty much everywhere. Great maps to get anywhere. Finally the location was perfect. Easy bus ride to all attractions. It is not walking distance to the station but I did not have a JR pass. Plus most Kyoto attractions are in bus routes not train. The nice bread and drinks in the morning more than made up the 600 yen day pass for the bus or the 460 yen round trip to the station for day trips. A worthy investment as it's easy to hop from one attraction to the next on the bus. Stay here you won't regret it!…
i went to japan and korea over march and april and stayed in a number of places and this was definitely my favourite. the owner/manager was so nice and accommodating, the rooms were such a nice change from the shoeboxes i had experienced earlier on my trip. The owner/manager gave me a map of kyoto and showed me the best places to visit, even did a deal on electric bike hire over the 2 days i was there and put the charger in my room so i could charge the battery and go off exploring again the next day. It was really well located and within walking distance to Nijo castle. I'm a travel agent with a large travel company in Australia and recommend this place to my own customers who travel to the area. will be coming back for another stay in October next year.
4 nights at Uraraka Guest House in July 2019. As we got to the front desk, we received a very warm welcome from Yoko. The room was faultless. The place is quiet, slightly away from the city center, at walking distance to some main Kyoto attractions and very easy to get to. Bus stop in front of the hotel. Less than 30 minutes walk from Kyoto center if you care for a walk, as we did a couple of time. We had the option of having breakfast included in the price of our room. The staff was quick to advise us on the places we wanted to visit and also recommend other sights. Really, a perfect holiday for us. Thank you very much to our hosts 本当にありがとうございます!
