The hotel is very well located on a street opposite Kyoto train station. Upon checking in and entering the room, we were alarmed, as the receptionist warned us that breakfast is normally full of guests so it could take a while, and when entering the room there were no drawers for clothes - the few that were there were filled with items from the hotel like pajamas and robes, and the clothes rack was very small. However, after you unpack your bags you notice that the room is quite functional, breakfast generally arrives when it arrives or within 3 to 5 minutes at the most - they call you to the room. Additionally, the hotel offers comfort items such as a coffee machine practically all day long - or coffee bean grinders for you to prepare your own coffee, with 4 grain options, complimentary drink every late afternoon, blankets for use in the common area , very fast Wi-Fi, which makes you quickly forget the small inconveniences. The staff is very kind, the breakfast is delicious and the restaurant offers good options for dinner at very cheap prices. Anyway, we started a little disappointed and left loving the hotel.

I cannot say enough about excellence of the Sakura Terrace The Gallery. First and foremost is the high level of hospitality and generosity. The staff are most welcoming, guests enjoy free drinks and live music in the evening, free coffee is available in the lobby, and the public bath offers great luxury and comfort after a day of sightseeing. Our room was reasonably large for Japan, and the balcony added to the sense of space even though the weather prevented us from making much use of it. The bed was comfortable, and the hotel granted our request to have access from both sides. The hotel lies on a quiet street within a five minute walk of Kyoto Station, so transportation is simple.
We ate breakfast in the hotel one morning, which was excellent and fairly price for what we got. There are lots of good restaurant in Kyoto Station, and a 7-11 is just half a block away from the hotel if you’re tired and don’t wish to go the Station for your meal.
The Sakura Terrace is the best hotel we have ever stayed in, so we recommend it highly to others.

The hotel is very well located approximately 300 meters from Kyoto Station. The beds were comfortable. The service of the hotel is very good. There was free coffee and tea at the hotel reception. They have a machine that sells drinks (at extra cost). The hotel had an onsen in the building across the street. They also offer free washers and dryers with soap included (This is a very good benefit!!!). It has a small gym for fitness. They have a living room where there is free coffee and tea and massage chairs that can be used without extra charges. I recommend this hotel!! We would gladly stay in it again!!

Beautiful hotel, you can see that there is a design studio where everything is designed to send a single message: comfort. The rooms are very cozy and the common area is relaxing and hospitable. The staff was very friendly. The hotel restaurant has good food and breakfast is not plentiful: more! The breakfast buffet, in fact, really offers every good of God. The hotel has a private onsen. The location, finally, is strategic as it is close to the station, where many bus lines and of course trains leave including skinkansen.

Firstly, let me just say that this hotel is so, so close to being five stars.
The facilities, the guest services, ambience and amenities are all really first class.
I mean free use of several full body massage chairs? Free coffee, tea and drinks on tap? Free laundry services? A daily free 'Welcome Drink' from an extensive alcholic and non alcoholic menu complete with live music? A spacious single-sex sauna and onsen? A decent restraunt serving up a truly excellent breakfast and a dinner menu featuring at least one vegetarian option alongside a Kobe beef option? Check! Truly outstanding.
However, it seems the money ran out when it came to the rooms. No complaints about the room size itself, it is actually fairly large (by Japanese standards) with a large bed, table, chair, nice balcony etc.
What I take issue is the two tiny flat hard pillows provided (which look ridiculous when on the bed) and the bed itself.
A slab of rock has more give than that bed. I know Japenese beds are generally harder than our European ones, but honestly, going numb down one side should not be the end game of a bed.
Other weird niggles was that the shower curtain was cut not wide enough for the bath, there were only four coat hangers supplied (reception did give me more on request with no hassle) and my Sister reported that her shower temperature was a bit hit and miss (although mine was fine).
I know none of this is a deal breaker, I know you could go to reception and get more of things, but sometimes you have to judge things on what you are initially supplied with.
Reception staff (especially the American Man in the restaurant/reception) were all lovely and very helpful, although check in was a bit of a farce with a seemingless pointless double check in procedure?
Overall , all things considered I would recommend the hotel. If you did want to do laundry though, make sure you try at several different times, that place us the most popular place in the entire hotel!

Great place a short walk from Kyoto station. Hotel is modern and updated, no carpet on the floors in the rooms - yay!
Double Superior room is spacious, you can move around without tripping in furniture or your suitcase! Bathroom is a standard size Japanese bathroom have never had one bigger.
Staff friendly although not all speak English well so things do come across abrupt.
Massage chairs and free tea and coffee in the lounge a big win.

I booked this hotel after seeing it advertised with Audley Travel. My main reason it was close to Kyoto Station. The location couldn’t have been better allowing us to travel by train to many destinations. We arranged a roof top terrace room which was nice to have the added outside space because the bedroom is a little small but to be expected. However the bathroom was much larger than the one we had at the Hilton Shinjuku Tokyo. We were in the North part of the property the South is the other side of the road. North side is convenient for the restaurant and bar for evening drinks etc. Breakfast had a vast choice and something for everyone. I personally found the evening menu could have been better however the food was enjoyable. I liked the quirky design of the reception area with the fire pits and its open air atmosphere. The evening drink and tea and coffee bar was a nice touch. There is a choice of housekeeping which worked well. Good convenience store steps away as well.

Stayed here during my Kyoto trip and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a modern yet warm design, with a relaxing ambiance that makes you feel at home. The rooms are compact but well-organized, and the bed was comfortable for a good night's sleep.
One of the highlights is the free welcome drink at the bar, where you can unwind in the evening. The open-air bath was also a nice touch, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. Location-wise, it’s very convenient—just a short walk from Kyoto Station, making it easy to travel around.
Overall, a great option for those looking for a stylish yet affordable stay in Kyoto. Would definitely consider staying again!

I selected the hotel because it was 2 blocks from Kyoto station. Also, a pleasant surprise was on my way to the hotel was a 7-11. Nice. I enjoyed my stay here at The Gallery. It was like a cool hipster vibe. It was efficient and nice. The accommodations were neat, clean and I liked the bathroom amenities in the bathroom. The shower head had a lot of water pressure. I enjoyed my shower a lot. This young staff member, I forgot his name , but , he was from Texas and he was very helpful in telling us where he goes for fun restaurants. He was very nice. Best part is they offer a free drink every night. I had the Non alcoholic drink. Grape beer and it was so delicious. I will come back here again.

I believe it is a 24 hour desk service. However, if not, I am sure they will make arrangements for you but is a wonderful hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay.
