The hotel is near Kyoto station, about 10 min. on foot. AEON Shopping Mall is the next block. Though the building is old, the service is good. When checked-in, they provided welcome drink and snacks. Breakfirst was buffet. The menu was variety of food, including Japanese dishes.

Kyoto is our 3rd hotel in our Japanese holiday and we were shocked at the size of the room. It is sooo small. We knew Japanese rooms were small, but this is rediculous and for the price.... Compared to the lovely , and cheaper places we stayed in Hiroshima and Osaka. No room for 2 medium sized suitcases and bed... More

My mother and I stayed in the annex building, and whilst everything was very clean and looked quite new it was a glorified shoebox. Coming from Australia our rooms are GIGANTIC (the caps are a necessity believe me) and whilst we found that rooms are generally a lot smaller here, this was by far the smallest we encountered. Also be... More

Hotel with clean, decent room and breakfast. Located near Toji temple and near station, as well shopping centre. Rooms are ok, well equipped with all the things you need. We enjoyed our stay and was very easy to find your way.

If you don't mind the typical japanese small room, the hotel is very convenient. Very close to Kyoto Station, malls, food courts. Staff offers nice service from front desk, room to good buffet breakfast. Check-in and check-out were fast. The only draw back is that it seems people smoked inside our non-smoking rooms. Can not say much about value as... More

I stayed in the annex part of the hotel. After booking on the Internet and paying US $140 a night I was expecting a fairly classic establishment. I arrived at the front lobby a day thought I was in a backpackers hostel. The lobby had a long table with about a dozen cheap metal chairs round it. A huge drinks machine... More

Maybe alright for japanese business men, but for travellers? Firstly you arrive exhausted after travelling for 24 hours, and check in is not until 3pm, no exceptions. It was just after 12 noon. We went up the wrong lift with all our bags, there was no one to direct us. The room was so small the double bed was pushed... More

Rediculously priced for a very average hotel, standard sized tiny Japanese room, we were forced to have a smoking room which was rank, and the breakfast is nothing like the pictures and average, once food runs out its not restocked and found hair in the food - all in all very very overpriced for the standard (especially on weekends when... The hotel is located a ten-minute walk south-west of Kyoto station. By western standards the rooms are quite small. There is hardly any space for your luggage and there is no wardrobe. The bathroom is well-appointed but rather tiny, too. Breakfast is self-service and mainly Japanese food such as tofu, yakisoba, rice, miso-soup, nori, coleslaw and pickles. However, there are... My wife and I had been travelling around Asia for 3 months and needed a night near Kyoto station before catching a train to Tokyo the next morning. After slumming it out in some places, we decided to raise our budget and spent just under £100 for 1 night at plaza hotel. Before our experience at plaza we have had... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
