Excellent stay, friendly staff that can speak English fluently. 10 minutes walk from Fukakusa station. Near to Fushimi Inari Shrine that takes 15 minutes to walk from this hotel. You can even rent a bike for the day. Family mart in front of the hotel and other shops with walking distance. The room is small but comfortable. They even sell...

This is a business type hotel so don't expect anything fancy. The room is small, enough space for a full size bed, a small desk, and a small bathroom. However, the bed was really comfortable, the room very clean, and the room has everything you needed (complimentary tea, tv, kettle, etc.). The location is good too, 10 minutes walking from...

This hotel is a very standard Japanese budget hotel. Small room and bed, but the room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The location is out of the centre of Kyoto, it is about 2-3 stops on the train from Kyoto station, but is within walking distance of the beautiful Inari Shrine. For me, the only image I had of Kyoto before the Japan visit was the vermillion gates of Fushimi Inari & it was imperative I stay close to it. This was my rationale for going with this hotel. Yes it is budget. Which in Japan means a small but impeccably clean room. No frills like a swimming pool or spa....

Apart from the Ok location (only ecause is near Inari Taisha), this hotel is not very well kept or clean. The room was small (which I don't mind as in Japan most rooms are not very large) but it was also dirty. When we entered it smelled as if the room hadn't been opened for months.. Not recomended

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
