Really nice hotel. Location fantastic, and easy to get to everything from here, as central. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms a good size, though low level Japanese beds, still very comfortable though. Good base if you are sightseeing a lot.

the place is a walking distance from subway (200-300m) and very close to Nishi Market and shopping area. Actually there are many attractions in the city so it is hard to define closeness but this a very quiet and good location. The single room was good size and well kept. They keep some complimentary supplies in the lobby such as...

My only two complaints would be the breakfast quality and that the alarm clock didn't work. They replaced the alarm clock with one with only Japanese print but that was enough. The breakfast was definitely a selling point at this hotel's price but not worth it at all. Granted, perhaps the quality is better for the Japanese food (I couldn't...

I stayed there last year for 2 weeks. It's a nice small hotel with a great location. Staff is very friendly. Brunch breakfast is an excellent value. Offers tasty food, lots of local variety and excellent service.

This hotel was a pleasant find in Kyoto, as it was a great value for money during the cherry blossom period, when hotel prices are up. The location is perfect, close to Gion, to the marjet and to the castle, lots of shopping and eating opportunities, we walked everywhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was a...

I visited Kyoto during Easter break and stayed in co-op inn Kyoto for 3 nights. For the location, it probably easier to take a taxi from the Kyoto station which costs about 1000 yen (not peak hour); it takes about 10 mins to walk form nearest subway station; If you have large luggage to carry around, probably not a very...

We stayed here as two couples for five days while touring Japan. I would recommend this place as a good budget priced accommodation. The rooms were small (this is Japan), but quite comfortable and clean. The complimentary buffet breakfast had both western and Japanese selections. It was quite good and they changed the food selections daily. The staff was helpful...

Stayed here during New Year holidays, and prices were good. Also we had breakfasts just for additional 500 yen. Place is near the centre. But the best think about this hotel is that all the building uses their own spring water, which is delicious!

I've stayed at this hotel twice in the past 3 years and both experiences have been good ones. As one might expect, the rooms are quite small by Western standards, but that is part of the Japanese ethos. My first stay I did have a small mishap where there was a leak from the bathroom that soaked the carpet and...

Unfortunately I was only here for one night, and on my own, but I would happily have stayed longer. Kyoto is a great place and this hotel was a good base, next to a great food market and surrounded by restaurants of all budgets. What won me over though was the room. I arrived in the middle of the cherry...

Staying in Shinkyogoku Shopping District

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes. Trends-in-the-making can be spotted in the tall windows of several one-of-a-kind stores featuring local labels and modish boutiques. Arcades, outdoor concert spaces, mega department stores, and small, enchanting cafes have sprung up to accommodate the increasing traffic. Whether looking for souvenirs and kitsch on Shinkyogoku Street, or scoping out the massive food court and restaurant floor at Takashimaya Department store, there's something for every wallet or purse, and a buyer for every item.
