Chose this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed. We got the twins room and the beds were actually like double bed size. The room is very spacious for Japanese standard. All amenities provided. Only provides green tea and Chinese tea bags for hot drinks. 20mins walk from Kyoto station and 15 mins walk to city centre.

Based on previous reviews, I expected the rooms to be tiny, but that wasn't the case at all! My friend and I shared a twin room and found that we had more than enough space for the two of us. It is about a 20 minute walk to Kyoto station, which was a little hard after walking around all day,...

The location of this hotel is quite convenient, appr. walk time to CBD about 20 minutes. The staff is very nice and polite and helpful. One has to go up to the second floor of the hotel vie the side of the building to get to the hotel lobby for check-in. (a little unusual) The hotel and room are very...

Desk staff were friendly and helpful. Triple room was clean and comfortable. It was especially good to have the toilet and shower/bath completely separate, on opposite sides of the room. Very convenient location; lots of restaurants in the area, and a short walk and 1 subway stop from Kyoto Station.

Stayed in this nice hotel while our visit in Kyoto with my husband. Everything was clean, location is great, staff was very friendly. Staff gave really good and easy to follow instructions to get to Arashiyama from the close by station. Japanese breakfast was also very good. I really don't have anything negative to say. As many others have said,...

We had such great service here! The staff were so accomodating and friendly, they even allowed us a late checkout so we didn't have a longer wait at the train station. The hotel is clean and modern with good sized rooms and close to many good restaurants—the staff gave us fantastic recommendations! We didn't find the location to be the...

The hotel is modern, quiet and close to train stations and a short walk from Gion and Kiyomizu Dera. The staff were super helpful. Although the room was on the smaller size, it was clean and comfortable with all the amenities one would need to recharge from a long day's walk around Kyoto temple hopping. Free wifi included.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic--our room was beautiful, quiet, comfortable and clean, the hotel staff had excellent English skills and helped us figure out the bus system and find a movie to see, and we were located near excellent restaurants and public transportation. A great value!

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
