I has some time in Kyoto and after two nights or so decided to stay in this extremely convenient place. Staff is very friendly and the breakfast is a treat. I loved the Japanese bath on the top floor. The room was the utlimate in Japanese efficiency for me. I t also had a in-room wahsing machine, which I first...

This hotel had a fab location just off of the covered arcade easy to find! The staff were helpful! There are onsen for men and women separate but if you pay 800 yen you can use the family onsen for 1 hour mixed! We found this far to long but definitely worth the money!

My 6 year old son and I stayed there in April for a week. We booked through booking.com. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. I paid slightly over S$1000 for a 7 night stay for both of us right in the heart of cherry blossom season, so that was really good value for money. The best thing...

Firstly, this hotel is easy to find providing you walk with your eyes open. Many reviews have suggested it's tricky to locate but this isn't the case. If you're arriving into Kyoto JR Station then you can either take the subway, a short taxi ride or walk, which will take around 30 minutes. The walk is easy enough; head from...

Location: Excellent. The hotel is a less than 2 minutes walk to the Shijo Karasuma station and a mere 2 metro stops away from Kyoto station on the Karasuma line. Bus stops to various attractions are scattered all around the hotel all within short walking distances. I also took the train to Osaka directly from this station without having to...

This is a very clean bright modern hotel. Great price for the facilities and is very close to Nishimura market and a 15min walk to most shrines. The subway stop is a five min walk. Once on karasuma dort walk towards the palace and look for the 7/11 check in is right next to it. Really enjoyed my stay here...

Great little business hotel for the price. Stayed here during early June and a great central location for getting around Kyoto from. The rooms may not be big but when your exploring the city that's not the biggest think to think about. Breakfast in the hotels little restaurant is great and the Circle K/7-11 located on the bottom floor is...

It's location is perfect, close to subway Shijo station, bus stop, major department stores and Nikishi Market. The convenience store on the ground floor is very handy if you arrive in a late night. I stayed in a twin room and it is more spacious than I expect, given the fact that there is a washing machine inside. All the...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
