Picked this one because it was the only one left available at the time of booking listing 4 stars (about a month out from our trip). Was about $450AUD for one night for a triple room (1A + 2Teens) so thought it would be okay. It was in a good location near the main Kyoto station so we wouldn't get...

We were on our feet the entire two days and really only booked this place to sleep. Right outside the Shinkansen train station and bus terminal. The room was good and the service was good. Wish I had actually looked into what the hotel offered as I believe they do a geisha show and the tower hotel is amazing.... unfortunately...

Stayed at the Kyoto Tower hotel in November 2016. I picked this hotel because there were no Marriott's available (I am a platinum Marriott member) and I wanted something convenient for travel. This hotel is literally across the street from the main train station. The rooms were small but clean and had everything needed. There was a restaurant for morning...

Kyoto Tower Hotel is just across from Kyoto station, easily accessible. However the hotel needs serious updating. The furnishing is from the 70s & 80s and not functioning well. The toilet surprising looks updated though.

The hotel was convenient for us, as we arrived by the bullet train and made our way out of train station we could see the hotel just across the road. What made it easy to locate the hotel was the big tower in the middle. The room was comfortable, it was noisy with emergency vehicle sirens some of the night.

1st impression : a door separating the lift lobby from guest rooms. Great idea! as it keeps the noise out if your room happens to be the very near the lobby. I had bad experience before. Room (for 3 pax) was really comfortable with ample space to put our things and move around freely. A special coffee machine was provided,...

The hotel is across the street from JR Kyoto station, we book 1 room for 4 people and got the room with 6 beds, 2 bathrooms, and very spacious. The room divided into 2 sections which is very convenient and has a divider door.

Location is just perfect, across from Kyoto train and bus station, lots and lots of stores, mall, restaurants next to the hotel. The front desk staff is fluent in English and the check-in process was quite fast. Most hotel's room in Japan is so tiny, but not this one! The size of the room is the same as North American...

Very close to the airport. Proximity to the bus interchange allows you to get to the rest of the old capital sights easily via bus. The rooms were a bit dated but it was clean. Front desk crew were really helpful with what bus to take, food to eat, maps, etc.

We stayed on 8th floor, same floor as the Hotel Lobby concierge. save hassle from taking lift to other floor. Walking across is the Kyoto train and bus station, it's so near. Level one has nice souvenir shops. Same building as the Kyoto Tower. We had discount on Kyoto Tower observation deck ticket since we are staying in Kyoto tower...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
