This hotel has perfect location downtown Kyoto with proximity to shopping area and market place. Subway station is few meters away. Considering that Japan has very limited space and resorces rooms are small as expected. But bed is large and very comfortable, bathroom very clean and unusuall for travelers from Europe. Guests from US will feel like at mini-home. All...

I was a bit worried after reading the previous reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The location was perfect. The service was excellent. Yes the room was small but everything was clean and tidy. My only real issue was that you couldn't adjust the room temperature and it was very warm.

The hotel was nothing special. Our room was a bit run down. It was very clean but just tired. The room was hot and the ventilation system was poor. The pillows were poor and the towels were thin. It was ok ..but not comfortable and certainly had no "royal" touch. On the other hand, the service was excellent, upon arrival...

Location was so good.Breakfast was very nice. Room was just a little old but clean.

Ideally situated, this hotel has all you need. The rooms are small, but that's JAPAN. Be sure to ask for non smoking floor. It's only a minute away from the Kimachi area full of fabulous restaurants & bars. Bus stop across the road. Station nearby.

Walls are super thin, you can hear your neighbor speaking and doing other stuff. Also, no complementary coffee and creamer. It was a long argument with the hotel to finally got some from the restaurant. The staff sternly told us that they wouldn't give more milk or creamer to us next day.

We chose this hotel which is located centrally close to Kyoto City Hall and therefore offers easy access to local sites of interest by foot or public transportation. This turns out to be the best asset of the hotel since everything else is average. Our room was about 20 sq meters with a 160 cm bed with enough room to move around...

Stayed there 3 nights with my wife, the best thing about this hotel is the location, in the city center, close to couple of bus stops and the Subway station and many of Kyoto attractions are in a walking distance. We have booked 2 rooms, ( 1 double and 1 superior twin) and stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were very nice and reasonably large for Japanese standards. All basic amenities were included. We have not opted for breakfast, as this was extraordinary expensive ( 2,500 yen per person per day) and with so many nearby restaurants and coffee shops,...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
