This hostel was clean yes, had good facilities, and staff spoke good English. But I have never had a worse experience at a hostel. There was a group of high schoolers staying at the hostel at the same time, which is fine, but the noise was so unbelievable loud and was consistently untill past midnight! Absolutely nothing was done by...

The location is a bit far from the city but I love the place. The ambiance is close to nature. The hostel is clean with friendly staffs. Stayed here for 3 nights. I would recommend this place to all backpackers like me.

This is a very nice hostel with a great hospitality. The staff is really kind and helpful. We stayed in a separate room with nice beds and locker for four people. Clean bathrooms with onsen. Towel for cheep rental. Simple breakfast, but okay. Loved the place. Really good value for money.

This hostel is one of the best hostels in japan. Its clean, modern, comfortable and cheap. If you're looking for a traditional experience do not go here, but if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in Kyoto this is the place to stay.

The reviews were so good that I expected more of this place. Please note that there are no showers in the room and you have to rent (yes really) a towel. The bath house was nice. Also you are not allowed to go back in your room between something like 10am and 4pm. Really???? I think this is the stranged...

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Friendly, very clean, and with lots of communal space indoors and outdoors. The hostel is surrounded by bamboo and cherry trees. The shared bathroom felt like a spa! The breakfast wasn't great but the evening meals were good. Kyoto is a sprawling city with its sites scattered in every part of the city. The...

Absolutely stunning property! We were welcomed by a massive cherry blossom tree at the entrance! The hostel was very very very very clean and spacious. The onsen was to die for! The staff at the front desk helped us with planning our itinerary and were very warm. There is a bus stop right down the slope and there are buses...

Staying in Western Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Western Kyoto
Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street takes visitors back in time to the Meiji Period, where old homes have been transformed into tea houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The area's famously tall bamboo groves, monkey park, and impressive vistas during the Hanami cherry blossom viewing season mean that it is busiest in warmer months, though also gorgeous in the fall, when the mountains and hills along the banks turn multi-colored. Historic and engaging, even the rail cars in Western Kyoto seek to exemplify its traditional nature and scenic beauty. Many people, including natives, come to visit the 1,200 rakan statues at the Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple, which is still in use as a religious site.
