Stayed at this hotel during a recent visit to Japan. The hotel was conveniently located near shopping, transport options and the railway station and was a good base to spend our 3 days here at. The only downside was breakfast time. Only one of the 3 restaurants opened at 0630 and each morning we joined huge groups of people all...

Ended up staying here due to buying a tour package. Very close to the station and a mall with lots of food and drink options. The rooms were a good size for two people and the bed comfortable. It's a big hotel with lots of coming and going but the staff were really friendly and it was an enjoyable experience!

Was booked into this hotel through a Japanese tour company. Convenience to the train station is the only recommendation I can give it. We paid for a "premier" room which was adequate at best. However, the building had not turned on the air conditioning and when I talked to the front desk I was told they might turn it on...

It seems to be one of the nearest hotels to Kyoto station - only 3 minutes walking distance. All the local buses are located on another side of Kyoto station, that's why it's not so noisy in the hotel area. The kitchen is fine, but not the japanese restaurant on breakfast. But this is just the only thing you won't...

Stayed at the New Miyako Hotel, right across the road from the station. It's a huge place, with so many people greeting you as you come in. It was raining and we were too early for check in, but we were able to drop off our bags. The bell captain loaned us umbrellas, so we went for a walk to...

Stayed for three nights in early April. Well positioned for Bullet Train. Hotel is well run, clean and only comment is the one I have with breakfast buffet food in Japan not being kept warm. Also the "pod" bathroom took away the generally good appearance of the rest of the hotel.

The hotel is in front of the Kyoto station. Rooms are nice and not too small. Beds are comfortable. You do not need to take a breakfast or dinner in the hotel as the Station is full of bakeries and restaurants.

I stayed in the New Miyako Hotel for one night on a weekend trip to Kyoto from Tokyo. I had read that it was a nice place located very close to the train station, and this was exactly what I found. The hotel is quite large and very well run, apparently catering mostly to tourists and tour groups. I had...

You cannot travel in Japan without taking the train, so if you are staying in Kyoto, this should be the hotel. The location is directly across the street from the Kyoto station so it is an easy 5 minute walk to any of the trains you would take to your destination. The station is also a shopping complex full of...

The pace in the lobby is frenetic, but the staff cope well and are courteous and efficient. Had a room on floor 9 at front, but rail and road did not disturb us. Yes , beds are hard and bathroom a small capsule conversion, but we were quite happy. Free wifi, excellent. However, what modern hotel offers only 1 English language...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
