The hotel is lovely, a wall of cascading water outside the dining area. The kimono clad receptionists and staff graceful and helpful. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. We found the food choices expensive, generally all inclusive breakfast / lunch/ dinner, nowhere to get a cup of coffee and a bun! And we had to pay to use their...

Dear Valued Guest Thank you so much for your stay and your feedback through Tripadvisor. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us here and enjoyed the surroundings. At our Koto Lounge located on the first floor just next to the cascading waterfall, the menu has a selection of breads as well as expresso coffee. Never the...

This hotel was decent, with rooms larger than what I am used to in Japan. The room was clean and relatively comfortable. The bed was quite low to the floor and not very firm. The free shuttle bus to and from Kyoto Station is great but it stops running after about 7 or 8 PM. The hotel staff seemed to...

We enjoyed our stay at the ANA Crowne Plaza in Kyoto. It's located directly across from one of the local castles. We stayed in a couple of deluxe twin rooms and the accommodations were pleasant. What really made this a 5 star experience was the wonderful service from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. It was an enjoyable experience....

We stayed in a deluxe twin room as a couple in November. The value was not good. I booked in here because I am an IHG member, if I didn't want the points, I would've picked a different hotel in Kyoto. If you are an ambassador, be warned that your upgrade does not await at this hotel as it is...

Dear Valued Guest Thank you very much for your stay with us here at the ANA Crown Plaza Kyoto. As you commented, yes our reward system does differ some what than the intercontinental, though there are "benefits" that can be enjoyed being ambassador member here at the Crown Plaza, such as room upgrades, later check-outs naming a few. We are...

My son and I recently stayed here on holidays in a deluxe twin room which was very spacious and had all the amenties expected of a very good hotel. Our room was very tidy and comfortable which allowed us space to relax each day. Our view of Nijo Castle was excellent and the nearby subway made getting around Kyoto extremely...

Did not represent value for money, was clean though and good enough for a single person. When I return to Kyoto with my husband I will not stay in the same basic room. The staff were very nice though, and I loved that the female staff dressed in yukata. I would stay again, if I could see that the hotel...

Only stayed one night and chose the Crowne Plaza as I'm a gold ambassador card holder and usually with IHG you get upgrades and added extras...not with Crowne Plaza. Hotel was in a great location, only 1,000JPY in taxi from aiport. Food in restaurant was okay although going out may have been the best option. Room was clean, and relatively...

Of the 4 hotels we stayed in in Japan, this was the one most in need of improvement. Well situated near Nijo Palace and subways/buses, it could nevertheless do with some upgrading. Our bathroom smelled of urine, and reporting it did not lead to improvement (though we were offered another room). Rooms were fairly large, nevertheless (at least for Japan)....

The hotel is in a good location that is slightly out of the way but with a shuttle bus running every 15 minutes it was extremely convenient. It's clean, well priced and well managed with great staff. We had the opportunity to stay in ANA Crowne Plaza in Osaka In October 26-29 and it was a pleasant experience. Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
