Arrived here after 15 hours of weary travel. Made a mistake finding the hotel initially - there is another hotel about 400m away with a very similar name. Anyway location is fabulous and the rooms a good size and quiet. Make sure you check out the restaurants near the canal and river - only a 5 minute walk from the...

This hotel is very easy to get to on the underground/subway from Kyoto station. And as it is near the subway station, it is easy to get around Kyoto to see all the sights. It is also very near the Nishiki market and there are lots of restaurants and bars inn the vicinity. Check in was very fast and friendly...

This hotel was above our normal budget, but it was a great place to stay. Modern and clean. Great location too. Great 'rain shower' and a full size separate bath. The room is pretty small and there isn't a lot of room to sit and relax, but we had a very wide window ledge, which we put cushions on and...

We stayed here for five days. It's in a really great location, lots of shopping and exploring near by. There is a train station a couple of blocks away and a million restaurants. The hotel is very mysterious and modern looking. The room was small and there was no closet, just a sort of valet area with some hooks to...

Even though this is my first time visiting Kyoto and we only stayed one night here. The hotel was outstanding. There are alot of Resturaunts near by and many cafe as well. There is a very good shopping district nearby and is a 10 minute walk from Gion, 3 minutes walk to the famous river. To get to JR station...

Conveniently located (3 blocks from the Keihan line Sanjo station). Mid-size rooms but clean. Pretty good price for the value. No view and don't have many floors in the hotel. I guess the whole point is this is close to the route of the Gion festival, which is why I was in Kyoto in July this year.

The location; right between important shopping streets, cozy bars and important roads. The hotel itself looks amazing, is everything you would expect from a boutique hotel and has some nice extras once you arrive in your room. The bar downstairs didn't have an extensive drinks menu but immediately gives you a feeling of class. The staff is very helpful, in...

We couldn't fault our stay in the Royal Park Hotel. The location was wonderful - in the modern part of the city but very easy walking distance to the old part. The staff were amazingly helpful, they went out of their way to recommend restaurants and book them for us. The room was lovely - much nicer than another hotel...

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. Left a satisfied customer. Just rating the hotel, I'd have called it average. Clean room. Small, but sufficient space. Good shower, fine bed. Staff is not overly friendly (I'm looking at you, aloof bartender), but they did their job. The selling point is the location, just off the Sanjo bridge, near two subway stops...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
