We stayed 3 nights here. The hotel is well located with the Kyotoshiyakusho Mae and Sanjo station just mins walk away. There are also many eateries in the vicinity along Kiyamachi Street. The shopping street of Kawaramachi Dori and Shijo Dori is also close by. The room is pretty decent. We had the corner room which could accommodate 4 beds...

A very elegant hotel with comfortable rooms and wonderful staff. They were extremely helpful in sorting out options for how to get from Point A to Point B. The location really can't be beat. It is a block away from Teramachi Market, 2 blocks from the City hall, 1 block from the bus and 2 blocks from the subway. The...

My partner and I stayed 2 nights at the Royal Park in November 2015. We arrived at the Royal Park after originally going to the wrong hotel - there is a hotel with a very similar name only 400m away! The Royal Park is in a good location within easy walking distance to the Gion district and many restaurants and...

Very well situated for good access to many interesting parts of Kyoto including the Geisha area and most excellent market and foodie areas. The room we stayed in was not huge and storing our luggage was a tiny bit of an issue but really not so much of a problem as to spoil our stay. The staff were very helpful...

This was a very good hotel - modern rooms, good breakfast and an excellent location for walking to the shopping area and Gion district. There were nearby bus stops for visiting many of the attractions. I would stay there again when visiting Kyoto.

Located in central Kyoto and is around a 5 minute walk from the nearest subway station, the street that the hotel is situated is decorated with streetlights with a London feel to it. Also have some great food around the area.

had a great experience at this hotel. It is in a very central location with great shopping and selection of restaurants just outside the door however the hotel itself is an oasis of calm. The concierge and the front desk also did a sterling job. helpful with local transport and even locating a shoe we had left in a previous...

I was on the Premium Floor (9) but the room faced a wall of another building and was so small I had to remove one of the chairs into the hallway and still there was nowhere to put your suitcase. The bathroom...have had bigger shoe boxes! So I went to see reception (since I was there 3 nights) and they...

Arrived here after 15 hours of weary travel. Made a mistake finding the hotel initially - there is another hotel about 400m away with a very similar name. Anyway location is fabulous and the rooms a good size and quiet. Make sure you check out the restaurants near the canal and river - only a 5 minute walk from the...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
