The location was perfect.. close to great restaurants and transport links. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was large by Japanese standards, well furnished and provisioned and the bed very comfortable. The availability of a free laundry was handy. A very short walk to a terrific Japanese restaurant "Tsubaqlo".

Room size is good for 3 adults even though is expected small but cosy with great cleanliness . The convenient location give it a plus and we are glad we booked this hotel as it's in walking distance from the famous Nishiki market and surround with eatery and shopping streets.

This hotel was recommended by a friend who had stayed there previously. We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, even if it was just overnight. The entrance and lobby was very classy and had ample room for us to sit while waiting. Our room was clean and very comfortable for 3 persons (corner deluxe twin). Bathroom also very nice....

Entrance to hotel was dark and dewy.Check in was cumbersome even with the advanced reservation. The rooms were ok and clean.Staff did not do more than they had to.The restaurant was pricey for the value of food. Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. We would not stay there again.

Location of the hotel is superb! Pontocho, Nishiki Market, a shopping arcade, and various restaurants are within walking distance. Subway station is also just a few meters from the hotel. A boulangerie is just right beside the hotel, a drugstore in front, and a convenience store just a few walks away. The standard twin room is good-sized, if you compare...

A 4 days stay in twin non-smoking room. Also a third stay with this hotel. The Good: Locations- The location is definitely one of main reasons for choosing this hotel. Not mentioning the metro nearby, nor the many food establishment nearby, nor the shotengai nearby, it is also located at Sanjo which is also my favourite area to roam in...

We loved our 3 night stay here, the location is perfect for exploring Kyoto with the subway a 5 minute walk away, and eating and shopping everywhere around. The rooms are spacious, our city view room with a desk, chair and table. The twin beds were already pushed together for us and the bed quality was outstanding. The breakfast was...

This hotel is situated perfectly between the railways and bus stops in Kyoto. The rooms, grounds and property were clean and spotless. Front desk reception is always willing and able if you have any questions. If I go back to Kyoto, this is where I would stay again.

Location is perfect, just walking distance to the river and the beautiful Gion district, and steps away from the bus stop and from hundreds of shops, restaurants, bars and shopping centers. Better yet, it's right next door to both an upscale supermarket on one side, and a wonderful bakery on the other side (which I believe is owned by the...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
