This hotel is very close to 2 train stations, and it takes about 5 min. Also bus stop is about 3 min. The location is really great. Also rooms have all basic stuff, hair dryer, toothbrush, pajama, shampoo, hair conditioner, body soap, face lotion, cream, mask, hair brush. You don't need to bring anything. Just bring yourself!

I love this hotel. I love the staff who have been very helpful from the time that I made the reservation to the time we left in a taxi. Yoko Ogawa-San was entirely professional, and managed her staff so well, it influenced every other staff member. Chise Tsujimoto-San was the star concierge who made us feel pampered by sharing her... The Royal Park is centrally located with easy access to bus and subway lines. Walking distance to the Gion district and lots of shopping streets as well as the Nishiki Market. There are many restaurants of any price range, a dynamic night scene, and fabulous bakery with wonderful breakfasts and sweets right next door. The service at the hotel is... More

Very well situated for a home base. Ponchobo Street ((a wide ally with no cars, that runs several blocks, lined with restaurants and bars) is a block away. Subway and buses are nearby. Next door is an upscale market which is great for snacks and drinks. The room is adequate (neither big nor small for Japan standards), clean, and modern.... More

This hotel is Japanese modern. It could be in San Francisco and fit right in. Well, that is if you overlook the deluxe Toto toilet in the guestroom bath. It was an excellent hotel. The hotel's breakfast buffet served a delicious mix of Japanese and western breakfast. And the lunch buffet was the best bargain in town during our visit-... More

We had a suite on the 9th floor. Nice big room and bathroom. We got some vouchers for each day and each person, to have a free drink in the bar. The breakfast was really good, you could have Japanese or Western style breakfast, and lot of fresh fruits. The location of the hotel was really good, everything walking distance,... More

I stayed there for 3 nights for my autumn foliage trip. It is close to everything. Literally everything..... great bakery with cafe just downstairs. Loads of restaurants and shops for shopping. Really difficult to leave that neighbourhood each morning when I should go to temple and countryside :) Walkable distance to market, and Gion , you name it!

Stayed here August 26th, 2015 for a few days and absolutely enjoyed my hotel stay. Rooms were clean and beds super comfortable. There is a mini washer and dryer to wash your clothes that takes coins. The hotel staff were excellent. My sister and I stayed here and walked lots of places, close to the Gion District, Magna museum, a... More

Very modern vibe without being too trendy, extremely helpful and polite staff. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and around $20 per person, more affordable than other breakfast buffets around town (Westin's was $30 and sub-par, Hyatt's was also $30 but delicious). Walking distance to Nikishi market, to GInza, and to most shopping districts and restaurants. Very pleasant stay overall.... More

The room and bathroom were very modern, and decently spacious. A big plus was the ability to do your own laundry. Very close to Nikishi market, to Kyoto station, and to the more modern shopping district. Also close to both main subway lines, which made it easy as a central hub to visit the different temples spread out around the... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
