This hotel has a great location, close to shopping, restaurants and transportation. A large mall is within a 3 minute walk. Starbucks is 1 minute away. And there is an award winning sushi restaurant next door. A subway entrance is literally at the front door. The hotel is clean and functional. The décor of the rooms and public area is...

There may be more than one hotel Vista Premio but we stayed in the one right by the Teramachi shopping mall. The location was great for shopping and easy access to buses, subway and trains. The front desk staff were wonderful. Always very friendly and willing to help. They provided us directions many times and always with a smile. Our...

We arrived at this hotel slightly early to find our room was available immediately. The hotel is located just behind a busy shopping street and market arcades. The decor in this hotel is modern and staff friendly, the room itself was small, but clean and beautifully decorated. The beds are so comfy and they had duck down pillows! Robes, toiletries...

The location is perfect right in the centre with lots of Shops, Restaurants around. The hotel reception staff were lovely. The room was quite small and old fashioned but it served it's purpose for 2 nights. The breakfast was awful. No choice of western food and if you go down later that 8am most things have run out. If I...

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Exceeded our expectations for the price! Our room was small by American standards, but included everything we need including a mini frig and clean robes each day! Topped off by a good bed with down filled pillows and comforter! Front desk staff were very helpful. There are lots of little cafes and...

The hotel is in a very convenient location in the center of Kyoto, and the rooms are clean and spacious (for Japanese standards) . Unfortunately, they like to copy ID of foreign looking people, but not Japanese looking people, even though not required by law for Japanese residents.

We visited Kyoto for three days. The hotel is in a very good central location just off Kawaramachi Street, the main shopping area and markets and it is very easy to travel all around Kyoto on the excellent bus service which is three to four minutes walk from the hotel in Kawaramachi. Breakfast is not included but we found a...

Strongly recommend!! Over what we were expected with this reasonable price. Clean, no dust, staff very polite and sincerely ready for help, breakfast was healthy as they provided many veggies, mushrooms, various kind of tea and good to try their apple juice. Lovely Kyoto. Definitely will stay again in this hotel. Nevertheless it surrounding with many shops and markets with...

even the train/ subway transportation and even bus is convenience in Kyoto. but since Kyoto is some kind of small, taking taxi is even time saving to near by temples such as Kiyomizu dera and Nijō-jō. a lot of shops/ restaurants around the hotel. the hotel is very clean and new. Staffs are nice. for the first time users, the...

We got a really good price for this hotel, and it turned out to be just what we needed. Very central in Downtown, near to Nishiki market and an easy walk to Gion. Subway stations were a little walk away, but not a problem for us. Free mineral water provided, decent sized room for Japan, and a laundry on the...

Staying in Shinkyogoku Shopping District

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes. Trends-in-the-making can be spotted in the tall windows of several one-of-a-kind stores featuring local labels and modish boutiques. Arcades, outdoor concert spaces, mega department stores, and small, enchanting cafes have sprung up to accommodate the increasing traffic. Whether looking for souvenirs and kitsch on Shinkyogoku Street, or scoping out the massive food court and restaurant floor at Takashimaya Department store, there's something for every wallet or purse, and a buyer for every item.
