The hotel is in a great location in downtown Kyoto, in the Terramachi pedestrian area, with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in easy walking distance. The nearest subway stop is just a few minutes away, Despite its central lication, its quiet (as its in pedestrian area). The rooms are comfortable and reasonable in size (for japanese standards) and...

I stayed at the Vista Premio for three nights in October and was pleased with all it had to offer. The room was on the small side but quite comfortable and clean. The front desk staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful and the breakfast more than adequate. The location was perfectly situated for walking or taking the...

Photos make room look larger than it really is but hey, it's Japan. The hotel is off a side street but is right around the corner from two long alley ways of an outdoor mall and a Main Street with plenty of shops and restaurants. Close by to Gion, train stations with quick access to Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, 7Eleven, etc....

Located in a very central and commercial area. We had no problems communicating in English with the reception staff. The hotel is near drug stores, cafes, banks, convenience stores, shopping centers, department stores, restaurants (I recommend ramen restaurant "Marugame Seimen"), ikazayas, post office (if you have to change / take money from the ATM) .It is 50 meters from Kamarawashi...

Seriously the location is fantastic. You are in the heart of the shopping district and walking distance from the trains. The rooms were a bit small by American standards, but in relation to all the other hotels I have been in for Japan they are a typical size and quite nice. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I would...

I was grateful to secure four nights accommodation here during the peak autumn period after a confirmed booking with another hotel was cancelled when the Hoteling company failed. Although the double room was small, it was well-arranged and quite adequate for one - would've been a squeeze for two with luggage and there was only the one chair. Small desk....

This is my second stay at the same property. My first visit was in 2013 same Autumn peak period when it was still under Best Western. You can see my other review for a more detailed description of the place. My very first reason for choice of this hotel was its location. Honestly, I can hardly think of any other...

We knew the room would not be large and so were not surprised, but it was perfectly adequate for our stay. Earlier reviewers had complained about the screens on the windows but it was possible to move them if you wanted daylight and a street view. It had good lighting and a fridge and kettle. The bathroom had a washing...

The rooms aren't very spacious and there isn't much window space. I would say it's alright but not the best. The toilet roll however smells really nice and it isn't standard white toilet roll. My dad really enjoyed the coffee they offer in the rooms, however the location is spectacular as its near the main stream of Kawaramachi where there...

The location is very convenient, being half an block off the major pedestrian mall. Rooms are medium size by Japanese standards, but ours lacked a large window to look out of, so it was quite dark and confining. Bathrooms were spotless and in good condition. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is based upon the Japanese farm-to-table restaurant in...

Staying in Shinkyogoku Shopping District

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes. Trends-in-the-making can be spotted in the tall windows of several one-of-a-kind stores featuring local labels and modish boutiques. Arcades, outdoor concert spaces, mega department stores, and small, enchanting cafes have sprung up to accommodate the increasing traffic. Whether looking for souvenirs and kitsch on Shinkyogoku Street, or scoping out the massive food court and restaurant floor at Takashimaya Department store, there's something for every wallet or purse, and a buyer for every item.
