Hotel is really close to the train station. Easy to get to anywhere by train or bus. Plus lots of good places to eat and shop within walking distance. Staff is also kind and friendly, and always ready to help! Will stay here again when in Kyoto.

Right next to station, great staff, one guy was fluent in seven languages and was just incredibly helpful. They had a map of best places to eat around them, wish other hotels thought of that, made our evenings a lot simpler. Deserves five stars, but the rooms themselves were tiny, even by Japanese standards, we were in a twin and...

First time visit to Japan so did not want to go too far to find hotel. Once you find your way out of Kyoto station it is only a short walk. Front desk staff are friendly and speaks simple English. Hotel is clean. Room is small. Just fit double bed and small bench top. Limited hanging space. The hot springs...

Relaxing "hot spring" on the top floor--a shared bath (men and women's areas) with two hot pools, one of them open to the sky. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair brushes, hair dryer--all supplied. + Pajamas and slippers provided in your room and you are welcome to wear them anywhere in the hotel. Location is very good--one block from Kyoto Station. Famous...

Three of us are travelling and the room are of good size. There is a dressing room outside the toilet/bathoom, so would be...

We spent three night at this hotel in late March/early April and it was wonderful. Small but cozy, staff was friendly and spoke passable English. My husband said the bath upstairs was nice, but I didn't try it for myself. Location was great right by the train and subway station and easy to job by the river in the morning....

A stone throw from Kyoto train station this hotel was a great location for sightseeing. The rooms are a good size too. The hotel offers free noodles to their guests after 9pm and they are yummy. Breakfast is a really good spread and choice. If I go back to Kyoto I would stay here again.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay here at Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae Hotel. Unarguably one of our hotel's major features is that we are a short 5 minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is a major transportation hub, with trains, buses and taxis, that not only connects you to the rest of Kyoto and the Kansai area,...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
